I only had to glance at the thread title and I knew that someone would ask this. Do you really not understand what was meant, or have you mistaken this message board for an English class?"
If I consistently said something wrong, I'd want someone to correct me too. But sure, I can't wait to watch the "Tony's" and after I'll listen to the Once Upon a Mattress revival "soundtrack." Words mean things!

Yes, but as Mary. Ha!
But even Cole just as themselves would be a riot, and I hope those in charge lean into the absurd. Cole is on their own wavelength and it's resonating with people.

Yes, I might want someone to correct me privately and politely, not publicly and by way of predictable and uninspired snark.
I guess we're all entitled to our pet peeves, whether that be an extraneous comma or the aforementioned stale snark.
Believe it or not, I'm a semanticist by training (if not current employment), so I do know that words have meaning. I just don't think the extra apostrophe gets in the way of conveying the intended meaning.
CBS is not going to give the Universal/NBC Wicked films any extra publicity by having Ariana and Cynthia host on their network. Cynthia presented last year with Idina, but the movie was given only passing mention. I can't see it going any farther.

I don't think a long-running BWW joke ("Tony's what?" - I'm not the first to say it and I won't be the last) could be considered snark in any significant way. Uninspired? Absolutely. A silly goofy inside joke? Perhaps! Snark? Nah my love. But it was nice to remember the Patti Murin incident because of your comment.
I like the idea of Jinx hosting, but maybe RuPaul could do it?? He'd be fab

She said she wasn't returning after last year.
Fully pulling for Rannells/Gad.
The only thing I really want is someone (or ones) who will bring a great sense of humor to the show. I wasn't crazy about the earnest theater kid vibes of Ariana hosting the last few years. I want some good snark.

It seems to me that the primary consideration should be that the host is simply likable. That alone would rule out a lot of the names that have been mentioned. It's a tough call for CBS. A lot of popular Broadway names are largely unknown to the general public. Would big names like Steve Martin and Martin Short be interested? John Mulaney? I doubt that CBS would opt for any of the SNL alums who seem to provide so many viral moments in other award shows, although that would be fun. One name that hasn't been mentioned is Hannah Waddingham, who I think would be terrific.
I would love to see Rosie O’Donnell or Whoopi Goldberg host again. Kristin Chenoweth and Alan again. I agree, I want someone snarky.
I think Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande would work this year. Appearing in the WICKED movie may have brought new fans to Broadway, musicals, etc.
Additionally, this is their “window” to bolster the telecast’s ratings.

I would love to see Hannah, but I don’t know if she’s well known enough in the US to host. We know her, but the general public might only know her from Lasso and that would not be enough to draw them to a theater awards show.
I think the best choice for CBS would be their guy, Colbert. And he’s such a theater fan, so he would kill.
