Who will be the next EGOT?

The Emmy.
The Grammy.
The Oscar.
The Tony.

The four most coveted awards in the performing arts- if you have these four, it's clear that you are a definitive presence in movies, television, music and stage work. Very few people have ever achieved this, and several made it in on technicalities- Liza and Barbra famously are considered "semi-EGOTs" because their awards were given as special recognitions and not competitive wins.

The question now is, who will be the next EGOT? They will undoubtedly be a familiar stage presence, since they need to either already have or someday win a Tony to get their required T.

Who will be the next EGOT?

I don't think that winning the Tony for being a co-producer should count. Who will be the next EGOT?

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

Who will be the next EGOT?

Cynthia Nixon winning an Academy Award is possible, but it seems like a long shot given that she hasn't had much of a film career to date.

I think it's much more likely that Julie Andrews will sooner or later be awarded a special Tony Award, completing her EGOT.

Who will be the next EGOT?

That list really helps think about the topic!

Elton John.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Who will be the next EGOT?

Julie Andrews only has four Broadway credits, the last of which was VICTOR/VICTORIA, and she kind of pissed off the Tonys there.

I can actually see Marc Shaiman winning an Oscar soon -- five nominations so far.

Who will be the next EGOT?

CZJ... she just needs to record an audio book, children's cd or something, then do a wacky and/or "deep" cameo on a Law & Order spinoff...

Who will be the next EGOT?

Tracy Jordan for EGOT!

Marc Shaiman seems the most likely, but I'd love to see Michael Giacchino's Tony-winning musical adaptation of Cloverfield.
With Irma you gotta do something!

Who will be the next EGOT?

One of you should buy the other a coke.

And I love that Tracy Jordan and 30 Rock have put the EGOT phenomenon into the public consciousness more than anything previously...

Who will be the next EGOT?

Back in the mid-1990's, I used to visit the AOL "Playbill-on-Line Chat Room". Marc Shaiman was a regular visitor, and on his AOl profile, he listed his occupation as "Multi-Oscar-Losing Composer".

Who will be the next EGOT?

I could see Dick Van Dyke getting one if he finds the right bait movie. You know, supportive grandpa that's dying. crazy old man that is dying...etc

Who will be the next EGOT?

Whoever is the next EGOT needs to be awarded that necklace with the award that completes their EGOT, haaha.

Who will be the next EGOT?

I think Michael Douglas is checking prices for a Grammy and an Emmy for CZJ...maybe he can get a twofer. Oops, I drooled a little sarcasm...sorry.

Who will be the next EGOT?

Hah I LOVE the "Glee" answer.

It's still hard to believe Barbra didn't win a Tony.
I also agree with the poster who thinks it shouldn't count if you were a co-producer. Really shouldn't.

All of the people still waiting for Grammys simply have to voice an audiobook! Celebs always win those. Come on, Maggie Smith!

Who will be the next EGOT?

In a handfull of years, Lady Gaga.

"Marc Shaiman seems the most likely, but I'd love to see Michael Giacchino's Tony-winning musical adaptation of Cloverfield."

Is he really doing that? That probably wouldn't be very good. I love his scores, and in all seriousness I'd love to hear him write vocal music.

Who will be the next EGOT?

Somebody should adapt a Sondheim show fot TV (Into the Woods maybe?) so he can win an Emmy.
And Dame Andrews ought to win a Lifetime Tony or something one of these days.
