Surprised there isn't a thread for this yet - thoughts? I was a little surprised to hear. Do we think the "star" would replace Scott or one of the prisoners?

I enjoyed this when I saw it Off Broadway, but I can't see this being successful on Broadway.

I really enjoyed this off-Broadway and I'm glad that the material continues on. I think it could work if the celebrity is going into Scott's role. She was good in the role. The role is central to the show. The rest of the cast steals the show with the much more interesting and exciting material.

Brooke Shields was at Whorl when I saw it. I remember thinking after the fact that it'd be a great vehicle for her.

Yes. It was at opening night.
You could put lots of different actresses into the show and it would probably work. As long as they're funny and natural. It's really about the men. If they went Hollywood, Elizabeth Banks might be a good choice.

I think Scott is smart enough to realize that the place could make some money on Broadway if she gives up her role to someone more famous. I mean, she's originated the role, she wrote the damn thing. I can't imagine any of the prisoners being "names" as that would kind of ruin the whole idea.

Taking my above comment as the basis, I don't see it faring well. I certainly didn't dislike it, but it was perfect where it was....off Broadway. I cannot see the masses flocking to this

Usually, 2ST does great work. However, this show was a vanity project and was a bore from start to finish. Felt false and phony, and almost 2 hours with no intermission. A real torture to sit through.

I could think of at least half a dozen off-Broadway plays I saw this season that should come to Broadway before this.

No more simple than many things on B'way today. King Charles III, for instance. Even Hamilton is pretty simple.

Could this move with a "star" in a role other than Sherie's character? I love this Off-Broadway, and think with some fine-tuning, this show could be a great contender for major awards. Call me crazy, but I thought this type of material, combined with it's approach and political material, could be Pulitzer nominated. Even though the Pulitzer committee seems to get off to anything in that makes allusions to other well known pieces of art, theatre, literature, etc.
