That girl doing the impersonation of Audra MCDonald didn't deserve a Tony nod. Sorry.

WOW! This thread can be a loaded one, for sure. Now, a person would have to do a racial spreadsheet of all the nominations/wins of Broadway shows to get an accurate representation. It is hard to say. Is there racial balance on Broadway? I would think so, especially this year around with Fences, Memphis, Ragtime, among others. Is there some bias? Maybe and maybe not. Would organizations such as NAACP, Operation Push and others have a valid argument on the omission of Black Actors for consideration for awards?
I would hope that the nomination committees of all Broadway/Off Broadway shows would look at performances and let that be their criteria in nominating, etc. Ethnic origin should have no bearing on the actor and his/her performance. It is performance and should be only performance!

If they seperated the categories, Mako would never had been nominated and BD Wong wouldnt have won for playing a woman playing a man...or...whatever. Then who would've opened the Law and Order floodgates?

"Donkey punching" was exactly what I had in mind!
But I would also have accepted "hot carling."

Because the revival performances of Coalhouse and Sarah couldn't match the original DEFINITIVE performances by Brian Stokes Mitchell and Audra McDonald.
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"
