There isn't even a message board on IBDB, like you would find on IMDB. Just something that I've always wondered about.

Because people actually care about movies..
'Cause there's no money in theatre.
Do they really need a message board for any reason?

IMHO, imdb has grown too many bells and whistles. From ibdb you just get the facts, ma'am.

Why does nobody use theatredb.com?
I guess, but I wish IBDB didn't have to specifically focus on Broadway. For example, Aaron Tveit played Roger in Rent, yet it's not listed on his IBDB page because it was at the Hollywood Bowl.
When I want a website that hasn't updated its information since 2001, theatredb.com is where it's at.
(I've started using Playbill Vault instead of ibdb, and I find it to be a much more attractive site)
Are the sites connected in any way?
No. IBDb is run by the Broadway League.
Maybe it has to do with the target demo. I am well into middle-age and, to my eye, IBDB looks professional while IMDB becomes more and more of a mess. (To be fair, I use both every day.)

I don't think IBDB needs to have message boards, but I do enjoy the trivia on IMDB and some of their info (like budget and total gross of films). My only problem with IBDB is the poor search engine they have, if you don't list the name of an actor/production 100% accurately, the entry won't show up. Considering they're a database, they should have a much better search engine, but otherwise it's pretty good for what it is and it has gotten better and more accurate over the years.
IMDb is owned by Amazon. I use IMDb daily and I love it. I love reading the stupid trivia and crap. I don't read the message boards because the members are stupid.

hmm I like IDBD and it's simplicity. It's called Internet Broadway Database because it's a....database for *Broadway* only . it's really a valuable resource. If they included everything an actor did it would be messy and the point is that Broadway is a thing of itself and if you perform on one of those 40 stages it's recorded in history which is important for the future of Broadway theatre because who are you without your history ? performing at the Hollywood Bowl? ...eh who cares.

I like both sites. They each serve their purpose well I think.
It is a "just the facts" kind of site. I'm sure IBDB gets only a tiny fraction of the traffic of IMDB. IBDB is not looking to make money.
They both serve their purpose well.
IMDB is such a bloated site, I hate having to go there. I think IBDB is perfect. I had never heard of http://www.theatredb.com/, I just went to check it out; it has tick, tick...BOOM! listed as currently running off-broadway. Ha! There's also www.iobdb.com for Off-Broadway listings.
Did you know that Wendy's keeps their freezer at 34 Degrees F?
Never (technically) frozen, indeed, Wendy.
How about just appreciating IBDB exists in the first place? The search function is kinda lame, but it's pretty comprehensive.
You want a message board? How about the one you're on?
IMDb.com is more "wiki-friendly," in that it allows its users to contribute a lot easier than IBDb.com.
I tried updating some credentials and credits on IBDb.com a few years ago, and they wanted me to submit opening night Playbills as proof.
No, thanks. You're on your own, then. Do it yourself.
So the problem remains that IBDb.com is incomplete and, in some cases, inaccurate with their credits.
I'm still glad it's there, and I do refer to it, but I also know that it's full of holes like Swiss cheese.
