Yeah, it's not that far away considering we'll most likely know casting information by the end of next year, or early spring 2018 considering filming will most likely begin somewhere between spring and fall of 2018.

Only if he has his trademark center-part.
Let the dream castings begin!!!!!
Here's mine...
Elphaba - Katherine McPhee: I just think Lea Michele would be too obvious a choice. Yes McPhee is an obvious choice but she's a better obvious choice than Lea Michele
Glinda - Anna Kendrick: I do think she's perfectly capable of playing both roles, but I am really intrigued at the prospect of her Glinda than her Elphaba.
The Wizard - Richard Gere: After his role in "Chicago" he deserves a comeback to film musicals
Madame Morrible - Emma Thompson: After her hilarious performance as Mrs. Lovett I would love to see her in this role.
Fiyero - Aaron Tveit - Repeating his Broadway performance
Nessarose - Lucy Hale
Boq - Carlos PenaVega
Doctor Dillamond - Simon Callow

Ugh. You and your damn dream casts. Are you going to post a new one every other month once "x" becomes too old or "z" unexpectedly passes away and so on and so forth?

G(a)linda - Annaleigh Ashford, Megan Hilty

A little rude. It is called "dream" casting after all...

No, it really isn't. You're clearly not familiar enough with IOLATHAHFA's posting history to understand...

I get dream casting is fun, and I do it sometimes as well, but do you really want a 35 year old playing a teenager?

Right, I'm not. Just seems like you're lashing out and creating problems when you could either PM the person or just keep it to yourself...

Begin?!?!?!? You do know people on here have been dream casting a "Wicked" movie pretty much since it opened back in 1911.

Yes, these "dream" casts have been a source of constant amusement for me.

I know Wicked takes place in an alternate reality, but aren't the characters supposed to be in high school? I always wondered that- 45 year old Glinda's don't make sense to me.

High school? No, they go to college together in Act I.

I'll believe this once it actually goes into production. A lot can happen in this amount of time. The long history of the film versions of Chicago, Evita, and Phantom are good enough evidence for me to not get my hopes up.

The article clearly states, "Writer Winnie Holzman and composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz, collaborators on the Broadway show, are reuniting for the film adaptation."
I'm not really sure where you got that Maguire was writing the screenplay.
Why has BroadwayWorld and Playbill's coverage been deleted?

And this is one of the reasons why these "dream" casts are a source of constant amusement to me.
I honestly hope that this becomes an animated film. I would like to see some really great hand drawn animation for this. Animated films allow for some more inspired casting. They don't always focus on casting big stars.
With a live action film, they'll try to get someone like Selena Gomez to play Elphie which would be a travesty.
I would looove to see Cynthia Erivo voice Elphaba. Laura Benanti would be great as Glinda.
It's Stephen Daldry, so we can expect a mediocre movie that will get lots of Oscar nods. Also, it's a film adaptation of a Broadway musical, so we can expect a mediocre movie. Also, it's Wicked, so we can expect a mediocre movie.

Have you seen an animated film in the last 15 years or so? They've been steering away from people you've never heard of and have usually been casting celebrities. That said, I think it could make a good animated film.

Those ridiculous dreamcasts IOLATHAHFA posts are always too unrealistic to enjoy.
