"There is NO advance ticket buying culture in Latin America for musical theatre - there is, in fact, little in Spain in Europe either. Tickets even for huge hit shows are mostly sold the week beforehand."
Yeah, that's also the case over here in Brazil... even popular shows like The Lion King and Shreak (both doing great business over here) have only tickets available through the last week of October.

Thanks, RW3!
I know it's a massive production, and that it would be quite difficult to move it around, but they should take this into consideration. I guess it will depend on the success of the show, reviews, etc.
OCESA is not planning to do a tour. They are officially answering all request on twitter, via @Wicked_Mx, with a polite "no".
The answer is "no, we won't tour, come and enjoy Wicked in all its splendor at the Teatro Telcel".
Is this a sectional view of the same theatre? I'm surprised that there's virtually no rake in the front orchestra seating area.
I didn't say biggest presale ever. I said biggest presale ever for Mexico. That's all.
Again, love, this is not the biggest presale in Mexico or in China, if they sold the orchestra only for 5 weeks. If that's what the producer would like to think or promote, that's another story.
Biggest success in the country's history? Based on what? Highest ticket prices in history? Doubtful. In fact, not even close. Even within their own company they have had much bigger hits at this stage of their runs than Wicked is.
This is the same producer who claims in an interview that Mary Poppins closed due to "strategic planning". The truth is that it closed due to the same day purchase sales that you claim works so well. It had zero advance and they could just not maintain it.
@morosco Yes, that is the sectional view of the Teatro Telcel.
I have never been inside the Teatro Telcel, in fact, no paying audience has been inside (Previews are only for sponsors, and no tickets are sold for this shows), and I am a bit worried about what appears to be little to no rake in the first 10 rows. The stage is 1 meter tall, according to reports... Here you can see a video with the "view" from all sections of the theater.

By the way, Stephen Schwartz arrived this week, and reports say he has been attending the previews with Winnie Holzman.
Apparently, Stephen Schwartz likes Danna Paola:
"Here's a prediction I do with all the confidence. This girl is a big star, if I'm honest, I have not seen the other girl [Ana Cecilia Anzaldua].We know that we all know Danna for her pop career, but what they will learn soon is that it is a great actress with flair, with a great stage presence "
"For me she has a star quality, has an inner light that shines through his face and eyes, so it is very exciting to watch her"

Couldn't agree with you more blaxx. I'm from Mexico, and I can assure you this is not the biggest pre-sale ever, Morris Gilbert just said so to promote Wicked. You really can't trust what he has to say about his own shows, he's the freakin' producer, he'll say anything to promote his shows. I can assure you Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera sold more tickets in pre-sale than Wicked, perhaps even Mamma Mia.
I wish mexican producers would put on really good musicals, but they only have their attention on blockbusters and mega musicals. If only there could be more shows like Follies or South Pacific, instead of Wicked and Mary Poppins.
Wow - Danna sounds incredible! I'm so impressed. And Cecilia sounds great, too! Totally not overdoing the Glinda voice. I wish I were in Mexico to see this. Any news on a cast recording?
That sounds f'n great - also, they did a really great job with the translations.
She sounds amazing. She is proving a lot of people wrong. Including me.

A part of Defying Gravity by Ana Cecilia, though the audio is pretty bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zotv1EXAYKU
Tu hermana te presume, y tu papa tambien
Sera siempre haci y asi seguire
Y diran “¡Hasta donde llego!”
Veran que soy capaz...
Van a quererme mas y mas...
El es el Rey yo soy su ( )
El Mago y Yo
I guess she must have played all her cards right. Rumor has it she's in talks to be in the Broadway production.

I really don´t get all the fuss regarding her. For me she sounds OK, but nothing spectacular, I actually think her voice is too girly, but that´s of course because she is 18.

The creators of Wicked, Schwartz and Holzman, both praised her acting. To me, it makes perfect sense, I always preferred her as an actress, she seems very natural. Also, she sounds really good in the recently posted videos, she improved immensely as a singer.
Danna should return to acting, I think she has great potential.

HOLY COW! Just listened to her Defying Gravity and WOW. So much better than I expected! So much power and maturity in that voice. With her only be 18, I was expecting it to be very very high-school belty, but boy, was I wrong. So strong!

I also listened to Ana singing "Defying Gravity", I can tell you that it is much better than the one we watched.
