Composer Frank Wildhorn's (Jekyll & Hyde, Bonnie & Clyde) musical WONDERLAND will have its European and UK premiere next year with a UK national tour beginning in January 2017. Lyrics are by Jack Murphy, with a book by Murphy and Greg Boyd (The Civil War). The musical has been adapted for British audiences by Ava Eldred (The 8th Fold), with direction by Lotte Wakeham (Matilda).
"Hailed by the New York Times as “inspirational”, Wonderland is an enchanting musical adaption of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Here a timely and touching mother and daughter story, it’s an adventurous exploration of who we are, who we want to be and the power of everyday magic."
Previously, WONDERLAND has played engagements in Tampa and Houston, before a Broadway premiere in 2011. The show has played several seasons in Tokyo.
More information can be found at the production's website.

Not bad for a really rotten show.

Good, it needs a different book.

Chloe's name is now Ellie, if I'm not mistaken. I do believe the show will take place beneath London now, not New York. That was always Frank's idea - if it's in Tokyo, it's beneath Tokyo, Vienna, etc.
I still find the score really enjoyable from this. The Broadway Cast Recording isn't that great, but the concept and other versions are very good!

It was just cheaply done on Broadway and horribly directed.

I'm glad something is finally happening with this show. I've been wondering if they'd ever release the rights but there hasn't been a definitive version.

The UK must really be desparate for product. This show was the worst.

Is this an attempt to capitalise on the Damon Albran Wonderland at the National?
Looks a bit desperate if so.

Wonderland is... not good.
BUT!
Lotte Wakeham is a very good director (the Matilda credit is not just token...) and a revamped book could only be an improvement, surely?

I'd say if it's capitalising on anything it's the release of the big budget disney sequel due out soon and not a production at the national that most people haven't heard of

If they fixed the book, the show could work. Act II on Broadway was a plotless mess with a couple good songs.

Ava's a dear friend of mine. I so wish I could see this!
