Posted: 8/27/07 at 8:07amconsidering disney's been dead for quite a while and has nothing to do with the company anymore its unlikely he's gonna wake up and fix the costumes. And with all the jews in theatre these days i doubt hed want to have anything to do with the production were he to wake up

It's hard to say. Look how they turned AIDA around. But then look how they were completely ignorant to TARZAN's faults and never fixed it. It's hard to say. Let's hope!

They didn't fix the TARZAN issues AND people were quite vocal about them during the show's previews, therefore it's quite doubtful Disney will listen with this one.

Posted: 8/27/07 at 5:38pmI really didn't see too much of a problem with the costumes. The seagulls costumes could be changed a bit, and I guess they should decide if they want the light strips on the eels. But I was fine with the rest of the costumes.

I think they first need to fix the 2nd act and worry about the book before they mess around with costumes.
I'm sure the show will get much better reviews with a good script and better ending. Then once thats worked out hopefully they will open their eyes and deal with the visuals. Although I've heard that the principles costumes are pretty good.

Posted: 8/27/07 at 5:51pmwhy didn't they hire the same person who did costumes for beauty and the beast now that person was a great costume designer

Posted: 8/27/07 at 5:54pmwicked91...the principals costumes are nice. Ursala's costume is pretty cool. It's the bubble the makes her entrances in that is a wee bit bizarre. I just get the feeling that the two big problematic scenes (The contest and Ursala's death "the confrontation) are going to be worked on after they leave Denver. I posted in another thread that As I was watching these scenes, they just had a "temporary" feel to them. I hope I am right, but I feel like Disney has something up their sleeve that they don't want to mount until they are at the Lunt in NYC.

They're not going to fix the second act storyline with Ursula coming to land and thwarting Ariel as Vanessa, even if all the critics say that's what needs to be done (they're well aware of this.)
The creative team tried toying with that particular concept when the show was in pre-production (the cut song "All Good Things Must End" went when the storyline did,) but no one involved was able to come up with a feasable way for Ursula to quickly transform back from Vanessa to herself before being defeated.
On a different note, there are rumors flying that Tatiana Noginova is returning to Russia after the Denver run concludes, but I don't know if that's just for the haitus prior to previews in New York or a permanent exit foreshadowing her departure from the project, however unlikely (though Noginova has told people her exit is due to "her contract being up.")

So we're just stuck with the crappy singing contest whether we like it or not? Sad.
Difference between AIDA and TARZAN is that AIDA actually had an out-of-town preview whereas TARZAN opened cold on Broadway. Hopefully this try-out will help THE LITTLE MERMAID become a somewhat decent piece when it gets to Broadway, I really find it sad to see mediocre shows succeed based on title recognition, TV show contestants, etc.

Somethingwicked-
How do you know they are not going to fix the ending? Are you apart of the show or is it a personal hunch you have?
#14re: Will Disney wakeup and fix the costumes??
Posted: 8/27/07 at 6:31pmI'm not saying they won't try and fix it somehow, Mouses Magic. What I am saying is that it won't be using the plot device from the film with Ursula becoming Vanessa (for the reason I explained above.)

i think they should of had tarzan open at dcas hyperion thetre
befor the broadway run but the producers must of thought it was
famous already so they went ahead to broadway right away and i think it opened to soon.if it did open at won of there parks it might of had a healthy run.ps: i hope they do change the ending because right now it sounds like cinderella

True, I guess I never actually thought about the process it would actually be to transform Vanessa back into Ursula...
But man, I just have (or I guess I should start saying "had", shouldn't I... *hangs head*) hope that, since its Disney, they'll start tapping their rivers full of cold hard cash and find a way to do it!
And find a way to turn this mother into the show it deserves to be!

Liverpool, that joke was worse than every single joke of mine piled into 1 hour of stand-up performed by Kathy Griffin.

^LOL Have we met
"they should have went with a show they already had material for
like aladdin"
1) Check the grammar, Chewbacca.
2) They have just as much material for an adaption of "Aladdin" as they do for "The Little Mermaid" before new works were written.
