He's quite a bit older than De Jesus, but I don't think age really matters for that role.

While older, the man is aging incredibly well. If you weren't able to look up his birthday on IMDB you would have a hard time guessing he is as old as he is.

I wonder if he's actually good, I know people loved him in RENT, but why hasn't he been able to get any theatre/film work since? (it's a genuine question, I'm curious).

They probably got him since he's pretty similar to Robin de Jesus, and they wanted another "Jacob from the barrio".

I thought De Jesus was too young... or at least came off too young.

Sometimes it came close to reading like he was a "houseboy" in the craigslist sense.

I think that this is the first time Heredia has been on the Broadway stage since he went back to Rent to reprise his role of Angel around 2000 or so. But, I think that while he did a great job playing drag as Angel, I think that he kind of shot himself in the foot at the start of his carrier. That, there is a sigma associated with playing drag. That it is seen with not much depth in terms of acting ability and that it is just someone jumping around onstage with women's clothing on. While we all know that he won the Tony for Rent, I think that because he was playing a drag queen he kind of shot himself in the foot a little because of that.

I mean, when they were interviewing some of the cast of the Rent movie about how they got involved, they said that Wilson was the hardest member of the original cast to track down. And, when they asked him where he was and what he was up to he jokingly said he was busy being poor.

When they were originally casting the revival Wilson made it far in the audition process but they chose Robin instead.
