If the show does well enough, do you think it might trnsfer to Broadway????
How exactly does the General Admission seating work? I mean, you can just sit anywhere right? Any recommendations on where to sit? I've never been there...but going next Tuesday
Jimmy -- You are not permitted to sit anywhere. Many (and on some nights, most) of the seats are reserved for subscribers. Those seats are actually assigned the day of the production, and the ushers will direct the subscribers to those seats. For non-subscribers, in the old theater the ushers would direct you to a particular section; in the new theater, I'm not sure if you have any choice at all, or if the ushers simply direct you to a particular seat. But don't be concerned, because there are no bad seats in the theater.

To respond to InfiniteTheaterFrenzy, they do a $10 rush a half hour before the show. They basically give out whatever they have left.
Jimmy, I saw Saving Aimee last month, an AMAZING show I might add, and you give the ushers your last name and they sit you in a seat. I'm pretty sure that for Saving Aimee it was alphabetical but I'm not sure if they'll do that for Witches of Eastwick.
I can't wait to see this show. I'm traveling from Pittsburgh and staying with my sister who lives in Maryland. Hopefully I'll have a review on Friday if I can get on my sisters computer.
Well that's cool...my last name starts with a B, so hopefully I'll be close enough
Thanks!

Trust me, I was in the 5th row for Saving Aimee and it was close enough. The theatre is so small that any seat is a good seat.

Saw the show Saturday night. Only one witch flew, as a stagehand
(hidden behind the couch they were sitting on) tangled up Emily and Christane's lines.
Kudish handled it well, telling the other two "You'll sit this one out", and then (apparently) changing the lyrics to fit one flyer instead of three.
This is a dream cast as far as I am concerned.
If this doesn't get to Broadway, it will be a crime.
broadwaybaby221, thank you so much for the info.
I am a student coming all the way from New York to see the show this coming weekend... any idea what my chances are of scoring the $10 tickets? Has anyone gotten them for this run yet?

Infinite, I know that I keep checking for this weekend to see if they still are selling tickets online since my mother wants to see the show this weekend. I'm coming and seeing it Thursday with a friend and she's coming on Friday and she hopes to see it Saturday, but so far it seems like the Saturday night show is the only one sold out.
Orchestra could have been fuller. I don't know how many pieces they had or whether it was sound issues (due to it being in previews and all that).
I don't believe that your last name has anything to do with where you are seated if you are not a subscriber. It is the luck of the draw. I bought my ticket the day it went on sale and was in the last row (still great, and much better than the dreaded side dress circle seat I had for Into the Woods, but not as good as my seat for Saving Aimee).
I sure hope they can work out the kinks with the flying and twisted cords. I don't go to Signature for the spectacle, but it does add something to this particular show. However, the casting is perfect and that, to me, is most important.
The director has posted some updates on the previews in his blog with some pictures (including two of the witches flying- Emily and Christianne).

Thanks for that link, KChenowethfan. Nothing like a sneering Kudisch to get me all hot and bothered...heh heh heh

Is that Emily flying? I heard they have not gotten her off the ground yet.

I stand corrected...That is Emily. Nice to see her not wearing a Moo Moo or oversized button down. She looks great.
Yes, that is Emily. In the Signature blog, it explained they had 2 witches flying at a time last week.
She did look great in that costume!
I found this report from a blogger in DC who went to opening night of Witches of Eastwick. Sounds like it was quite enjoyable but still needs some work.

I don't think opening night has happened yet. He probably saw the first preview.

There are bargain ($36.60) tix for this Sunday's matinee at DC Ticketplace, our "half-price" booth. But if reviews are favorable, future performances will likely sell out. I saw it last Wednesday. The witches didn't fly, but the play was otherwise fabulous--what a cast! There was tremendous energy to the whole production. I recommend it highly!

hey y'all!
I'm working backstage at Signature Theater and help with costumes during Witches of Eastwick
So if you have any questions about the run, I can answer - to talk about the flying, the problem was we only had one person hooking up all three witches and she had no space to stick her hands through the couch and little time to do it
The problem is fixed - more time and more people! We opened on last Monday night and tonight (saturday night) was our Press Opening - and broadwayworld.com was there!!
The show is going great - everyone is really pumped! Please come see the show, it's great
The new dance numbers are great - Dance with the Devil is one of my favorites!!
Also, Cameron Mackintosh is producing 'Witches of Eastwick' so he is definitely trying to get this show to Broadway - let's hope he succeeds
any reviews for this yet?
nope, not press reviews. I would imagine the Post will have one up soon though.

Just a helpful hint: if you're going to pretend you're linking to someone else's blog and not your own, don't list the identical web address in your profile. It's kind of a giveaway.
More on-topic: I wish I could stow away in my brother's suitcase when he goes to DC next weekend; I'd love to see Marc, Christiane, and Emily all together in one show. Hopefully it has life beyond DC!

Driving up from Charlotte, N.C. in a couple of weeks...can't wait to see. Loved the London Production and Maria Friedman was fantastic in that Production. Kept thinking they would move to Broadway but no deal, so maybe this one will. Bought the CD of the London cast at the theatre that night and play it all the time. Now maybe we will also have a cast CD of the American Production. When will the reviews be out on this Production?
