We saw it Christmas day I believe & Danny made a remark thanking the Jews for coming out on Christmas.
I love that Danny Burstein.
Speaking of closing night...
I was doing some research to see if anything had been, erm, documented and low and behold.. YouTube has it all!
For those of you who simply can't wait for the Cast Recording to come out, there's some decent audio on YT that has just been posted! Burstein's joke is recorded in one of the videos as well.
Type in "WOTV - Madrid". Something should pop up; that's how I found it. My apologies for those who will be offended by me posting this. Ha!
It didn't come up. Any other suggestions?
Actually go to YouTube and type it in...I found it at the bottom of the results list.
Wow; the energy during Model Behavior seemed like it was crazy! And was it just me or did the tempo seem a little slow?
There's was definitely a slow-down from when I heard it in October to December. It may have come with it freezing at Opening
When Model Behavior was faster, was it hard to understand what she was saying? I think Laura Benanti does a great job of clearly enunciating the lyrics for almost all of the song.
I love everything about Model Behavior -- Benanti's hilarious performance, the frenetic action and staging, the giddy silliness of it. To me, it is a true showstopper. I hope Benanti gets the recognition she deserves during awards season.
And what Danny Burstein said was:
(while shaking his hips) Do you feel it? Somebody back there feels it really good.
(laughter from audience)
David Yazbek, is that you?
(laughter and applause)
You wrote it, you better feel it!
It's hard to tell. The frantic speed is fun and makes it more challenging like "Not Getting Married" but the audience reaction is greater with the slower version.
This might also have to do with Benanti settling into the accent and characterization more from Previews until now and furthermore it allows more time for the audience to think & react to the jokes.
Only makes me more anxious for the recording! I LOVE "One the Verge"!
I emailed Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight again yesterday, thanking them for recording this. Do it, too! Let them know they're making many of us very happy.
Lovely sentiment and excellent advice, Eos. Saw the show once in previews, again last Tuesday (found out the day after that the show was folding that weekend). ;/ I envy you folks who saw the final show!
Maybe it IS better to burn out than to fade away; this show burned pretty brightly for its teeny lifespan.
