"Lestat." I liked the "Right Before My Eyes" reprise well enough, but then Marius came smashing through the wall like an old Kool-Aid commercial. It just didn't work.

Bettyboy, I couldn't agree more. if Sheila had gotten a private audition, she would have landed the role. Cassie appears to be having a nervous breakdown because she hasn't worked.

It's too bad there wasn't an ACL prequel. Zach, Cassie and Sheila, just kids dancing in the chorus together. Having to supplement their incomes with trade show work.

"Full Disclosure" from The Addams Family.

And I always wished that "SUNSET BLVD" had ended Act I with a bit more of a bang. Perhaps the call from DeMille's office or something.

"And I always wished that "SUNSET BLVD" had ended Act I with a bit more of a bang."

I always thought that Act 1 should have ended when Joe called the house and Max answered and said "Madame has tried to kill herself" and hung up. And I honestly think that ALW wrote the music to end there because there's that downward trill of music. I bet Patti LuPone begged him to change it so that she was onstage at the end of Act 1.

re: Music Man's act I finale
Wells Fargo is OK. But I also hate the regular finale of Music Man, with the boys band playing a bad version of Minuet in G.

I know FOLLIES is written to be performed without an intermission, but where is an intermission usually taken? After Too Many Mornings?

"I always thought that Act 1 should have ended when Joe called the house and Max answered and said "Madame has tried to kill herself" and hung up."

You needed to see the scene where Joe returns to the mansion to understand how he let himself be further manipulated into Norma's web of crazy. That would make a very odd scene to open Act II with the remainder of New Year's Eve, and then have the several week time jump to Norma getting the call from Paramount. It makes far more sense dramatically and structurally to have intermission cover that time jump in the narrative.

"Tarzan had a pretty weak Act 1 finale... i honestly didn't know it was intermission until the lights came up."

Like most of the audience, the lights waking you up out of the snooze should have easily told you it was time for intermission!

"If I Can't Love Her" from BATB is a fantastic Act 1 closer but...Act 1 is so goddamn long that the audience's attention span is gone and the song just becomes a wash of "okay, he's sad...can I please go pee already?" Act 1 should really end with Be Our Guest (time-wise), but story-wise, the Wolf Attack needs to open Act 2.

For me it is VICTOR/VICTORIA hands down.

It was spectacularly melancholy for a gay 'ol musical comedy.

Respect for Julie Andrews and remembering the crazy ticket price prevented most of the audience from leaving at intermission.

Not for any fault of the quality of the show, but the "Into the Woods" Act I finale seems to frequently confuse people who think the entire show has finished do to the finality presented. There's almost not enough of a cliff hanger to keep people around.

I love I Am What I Am, but I think the current production of La Cage could have done it so much better. Albin is supposed to hurl the wig at Georges and storm off down the aisle. Instead, he kind of just tossed it to him.
