What is your least favorite Musical that has been turned into a movie for me it was the Producers cheep looking and just god aweful
Pete's Dragon, although the Village People movie comes close.
Um. I think the original poorly worded, poorly punctuated question refered to a movie musical that started as a stage musical. Pete's Dragon didn't... and it holds a special place in my heart. So. Poo on you!

The Producers. Who told Uma Thurman she could sing?

The Phantom of the Opera. Joel Schumacher ruins EVERYTHING HE TOUCHES! Not that I'm fond of Phantom in the first place, mind you.

I'm sure countless others will suggest this, but "A Chorus Line" is horrendous. Messed-up songs, taking the story outside of the theater, building up the Cassie-Zach relationship to a painful degree...no wonder that film killed movie musicals for twenty years.
And sorry, but the "Rent" movie was pretty lousy too. I appreciated having the original performances preserved to some degree, but come on - the mesa in "Santa Fe"? I'll stop there.
the mesa was actually in what you own, and i second phantom.
You've never had the misfortune to sit through the film version of Man of La Mancha. I"m not certain there's even a vcr/dvd version. It should be buried in a vault someplace. IMDB should delete it from Peter O'Toole and Sophia Loren's listings. There is nothing to redeem it and I haven't seen it in over 30 years, but the stench remains.
The movie version of A Chorus Line also needs to be burned and buried.

Hahaha, that was the funniest part of the whole movie. I agree that the RENT movie definitely had its problems. The strip club scene was pretty lame too IMO (is she singing to the audience, or Roger, or herself, or what!?) And don't get me STARTED on the lesbian wedding. I have nothing against lesbians or their weddings, but there is no freaking way Joanne's parents would be cool with that.
I've seen Man of La Mancha; didn't find it too bad, but I've never seen the stage version. And, OMG, that film of A Chorus Line was on this weekend and I watched parts of it. Everyone looked anorexic... but I got a kick out of Terrence Mann's huge 80's hair.
Rent -- Sorry Munk, it was dreadful, but certainly better than these:
The Producers -- did you laugh even once?

Whenever they make Wicked into a movie, you'll have your answer.
Those who say "RENT" and "PHANTOM" clearly have to see more movies.
Moulin Rouge, if you even want to call that mess a musical.

I agree. But what do you expect from 14 year olds?
OMG! How could you say MOULIN ROUGE is a mess?! That movie is so amazing!!
I would say: The Producers, Grease 2 (even though it is not a broadway musical), and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
A Little Night Music.... I couldn't even get through it.
Definitely A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC...now we're on the right track.
I loved THE PRODUCERS.
HOW TO SUCCEED? What? It's a pretty good movie, and a pretty faithful adaptation.

Obviously no one here has tried to sit through THE FANTASTICKS movie with Joey McIntyre. Now that's PAINFUL.
I have a bunch of them; but, some are not from Broadway shows, and others that I dislike, are from Broadway shows that I didn't like in the firs tplace. So, I'll limit to those from a Broadway show's that I liked:
ANNIE
A CHORUS LINE
MY FAIR LADY
BRIGADOON
CAMELOT
THE PRODUCERS
KISS ME KATE
Summer Stock.
Even Gene & Judy & "Get Happy" couldnt save that sh*t.
"Howdy Neighbor, Happy Harvest" as Judy is riding down the road on a tractor? What the eff was that sh*t? Please.

Funny Girl. I did the show and wanted to see the movie for comparison. To this day I cannot stay awake watching that movie.
I've never seen the stage version of Rent, but I enjoyed the movie. That'll most likely change as soon as I see it live. Same thing happened with Phantom. I loved the cast album, enjoyed the movie, saw the show, and loved the show more (Though the film is visually beautiful, I was disappointed in the quality of the vocals. However, I do appreciate this film for what it is and I'm glad it was made).

I go with Chorus Line, add Annie (though I love the score, even the new film songs), Camelot didn't really work too well. I as a matter of fact don't loath the Man of la Mancha movie as much as the most here. And neither The Fantasticks which I found pretty well done, flaws admitted but no lethal ones. Yes, Little Night Music was mentioned. I am not too fond of the way Forum was butchered in terms of Sondheim's score. And after endless times of watching the My Fair Lady movie, I grow to say: it's too long. It's not bad, but I get sleepy in the end.
