YouTube.com: 'Love Never Dies' performed by ALW and Sierra Boggess
Ha! You beat me to it!
LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
SO happy!

OMG, she sounds freakin' AMAZING!!! Although this pisses me off that he took the melody of "Our Kind Of Love" to do this (although the melody was originally written for this musical).
I LOVE IT!! The whole concept of a Phantom sequel makes you laugh. Then they throw all these videos, songs and blogs at you and you are caught under the Phantom's spell!! I cannot wait for this to start previews in 20 days!!!
WOW! The lyrics are surprisingly very good. My aunt's brother wrote a musical of Age of Innocence and had a reading for it and Sierra played one of the leads. The reading did have opera singing in it, but she was sooo much better in that video. I can not wait for this to come to Broadway.
I listened to all of thirty seconds... and I'm already over it.
Oh I agree. The lyrics are a million times better than "The Heart is Slow To Learn" which was the original song for the proposed Phantom sequel a few years ago.
Here is how the original went:
The Heart Is Slow To Learn
She sounds wonderful.
God, her voice is incredible.
I love it. The lyrics are so fitting for Christine. I can't wait!
My thoughts:
Lyrics are repetitive, highly so.
Sierra Boggess sings well and looks very beautiful.
After the first two minutes I knew what point they were trying to get across.
When she hit the high notes, I thought they were pointless.
All told, better lyrics than Till I Hear You Sing (Once More). They were just bad.
Glenn Slater has officially made up for TLM with that song alone. Those lyrics are so poetic and gorgeous, simple and eloquent and spot-on perfection. I really could not have asked for anything better, lyrically. This is the "Music Of The Night" for the 21st century, love it or hate it.
Damn, Slater is on fire between this, SISTER ACT and the LEAP OF FAITH workshop. Best lyricist in the industry!

I love the song and LOVE Sierra. But 8 times a week-can you say "blown out" vocal cords? Can you say alternate Christine at matinees? :)
I really wanted to hate this... But I loved it!!

Lyrics:
Who knows when love begins
Who knows what makes it start
One day it's simply there
Alive inside your heart
It slips into your thoughts
It infiltrates your soul
It takes you by surprise
Then seizes full control
Try to deny it
And try to protest
But love won't let you go
Once you've been possessed
Love never dies
Love never falters
Once it has spoken
Love is yours
Love never fades
Love never alters
Hearts may get broken
Love endures
Hearts may get broken
Love endures
And soon as you submit
Surrender flesh and bone
That love takes on a life
Much bigger than your own
It uses you at whim
And drives you to despair
And forces you to feel
More joy than you can bear
Love gives you pleasure
And love brings you pain
And yet when both are gone
Love will still remain
Love never dies
Love never falters
Once it has spoken
Love is yours
Love never fades
Love never alters
Hearts may get broken
Love endures
Hearts may get broken
Love endures
Love never dies
Love will continue
Love keeps on beating
When you're gone
Love never dies
Once it is in you
Life merely fleeting
Love lives on
Life merely fleeting
Love lives on
Bettyboy, I bet they will go with the tracked-in-vocals ala "POTO" ending for the Christines' sanity, though maybe not.
Also, can anyone with a better grasp of music-by-ear tell me what that high note is? I'm thinking a high D sharp (the POTO title song goes up to a high G, no?), but I could be wrong. Definitely right up there with "Poto" chord-busting notes though.
So happy this is so good! Frankly, I'm a bit shocked to see the love 'round here for it, and I suppose I'll even let down my guard a tiny bit and admit it brought a tear to my eye the first time I heard it, yes, a spark of warmth to this chilly, cold, cruel heart! Haters hate, if you must. I'm a sentimental fool!

P.S. This is the best lyrical quatrain in any ALW show since Rice (save Steinman's work on WDTW): "Try to deny it/
And try to protest/But love won't let you go/Once you've been possessed."

The Love Never Dies Facebook on the other hand is turning into a bit of a battleground...
How can we get excited about the "premiere" of a song that has already been used in one ALW show and bears a strong resemblance to one from the original Jeeves?
Sonheim should write a sequel to Follies, and use a couple of songs from Anyone Can Whistle- nobody will notice!!!
The POTO title song goes up to a High E. I just looked at this song. It goes up to a High B flat. It depends on how high the rest of the score is in order to determine if they need an alternate. If she is singing it properly, there is no excuse not to perform it 8 times a week. Opera performers can do it.

That was wonderful... I can't wait for the cast recording now. Is that the next huge step in the public access?

What happened to the CD Track list? Did anyone copy it??

Love may never die, but good music surely does. This is so average, even for ALW.
Refried.
For some reason, it reminded me of a mixture of "We Are The Champions" and "Love Will Find A Way" from The Lion King 2. She looks and sounds beautiful, though!
