as long as the movie offers keep coming offering potential fame, and a big paycheck, she won't step foot back onto the stage.

SHOWS: --BOOTS (also producing) --ALICE IN WONDERLAND opera --rumored to be doing YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (and if she's offered the part, she'll take it...she's said that she'd love to play Madeline Kahn's role) --rumored to be doing LEGALLY BLONDE (she hasnt denied it but most think it's untrue)
I'm betting that Cheno will be dubbed with Dusty's original recordings. There is no way she's going to be able to replicate Dusty's distinctive singing style. The two sound nothing alike and if she attempts to sing it herself and doesn't succeed no one will take the film seriously.
It's going to be fun to sit back and see how this one turns out. LOL.
I'll give you $5 for each of those that ACTUALLY happens with her in them, aside from Alice In Wonderland which has been pushed off for a season to accomodate her.

Im just saying she has a lot on her plate. I would have given anyone 5 dollars for every movie that she would be in after Wicked and she proved me wrong. No one would have ever thought that she would come out of Wicked and do, what?, 7 movies! Ya never know. Updated On: 4/21/05 at 04:34 PM
I know...and I'd love for you (and her) to prove me wrong...personally I wish she'd stick to the stage but I guess if you put a big enough paycheck in front of someone they'll bite.

I say congratulations to the new "hardest working girl in showbiz." Brava! Strike while the iron is hot, girl.
And I love the fact that she believes in the project enough to invest her own money. A gutsy move. I will eagerly await the release. I love her desire to stretch.
TV, movies, stage, recording - she's living the dream of many and I wish her only the best.
Laughter is much more important than applause. Applause is almost a duty. Laughter is a reward.

I'm pretty pumped to see how this will turn out. While she has always played the dumb blonde part, maybe that's just because that's how she felt the cahracters should be played? Maybe she really can only play one part, but I think this movie will certainly show us if she truly can act more than one role. But maybe I'm completely wrong hehe.
What is Broadway? A street? Some say it's a street. Some say it is the best street in the world. Others think its terrible. That's the beauty of it, it's terribly beautiful. Some hate it and don't know why. Others love it and don't know why. That's what makes it so wonderful, it's a mystery.
u people are utterly ridiculous. Kristen Chenoweth is a dynamic singer/actress. she is becoming more famous day by day because she is so gifted and her strong faith. she is absolutely amazing and i personally believe she will rock in this role and if she does getherself an oscar on the way. And let's not forget that Kristin Chenoweth has one of the most beautiful instruments the world has seen. she got into the academy of vocal arts for chrissakes. thats a VERY hard place to get into. it has been proven that if you have that classical training it's pretty much easy for you to sing anything. look at singers like regina bell, whitney houston, and bernadette peters. they have some classical traing but sing r+b, jazz, gospel, musical theatre etc... A very good actor whom i respect very much named Frank Langella once said we must uplift our fellow actors whether stage or screen not keep putting them down and saying what they shouldnt do. in other words people- STOP BEING HATERS!!

Tonya, Tonya, Tonya. Once again the entire drift of this thread has gone completely over your head. I think Chenoweth is extraordinarily gifted as a singer. But she is completely different from Dusty Springfield in physicality, demeanor, and certainly worlds away from her vocally - both speaking and singing. Most of the posters on this thread are Kristin fans - it just seems like a serious case of miscasting. That's what we're saying.

no rath, everything kristin chenoweth does is perfection. wake up and smell the sugar.

Tonya, I just finished reading your *complete* post...
I would not call these people (myself included) Kristin haters. I know I have travelled plenty of miles and spent plenty of money to see Kristin perform live. I know Wickedrocks is also a huge fan, as are most of the other posters discussing the matter. Rath hit the nail on the head in his last post- the issue is that we feel might not be a good part for her to play...

It seems to me that most of the posters on this thread - myself included - began by saying they were fans of Kristin in some way. I'm not sure why that needs to translate into an understanding or appreciation of absolutely everything that comes along that she might be associated with. I certainly don't wish her ill - or the project, for that matter - but I am somewhat curious why, out of all the choices available, this is who will attempt to bring Dusty to life.
Tonya. What exactly do you mean by "Haters?" I can't speak for other posters, but I do not in any way shape or form "Hate" or ever midly dislike Kristen Chenoweth. I have liked every thing I have seen her do.
However, Dusty Springfield was a physically large woman, with a low husky singing & speaking voice. Her vocal style was very soulful. Kristen Chenoweth is very small with a very high (and beautiful) voice. She sings powerfully and well, but has demonstrated little or no "soul" in her performances. I think it is very valid to wonder how she will pull off this transformation.
I also disagree that people who have classical training can "Sing anything." I think Kristen is a good example of someone who does a very good job bouncing back & forth between Classical and pop, but those singers are the exception and not the rule. A lot of operatically trained singers butcher pop songs when they attempt them.
I think that Marisa Tomei would have made a better Dusty (of course with dubbed singing).
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
once agin people we dont understand the term "Hater". im not saying you have a severe case of the wraths for Ms. Chenoweth. youre not being supportive in spite of. its just everybody says dont on here. SHE'S AN ACTRESS! give her a chance to do what she's paid to do. maybe its jus me? i dont kno how many people act on here but im an actress, i understand the beautiful challenge it is to take on a role of someone who people wouldnt expect you to play and you analyze the character and find it within yourself to make people forget the doubts they had about it before and see that character in you. i dont think will smith looked, sounded, behaved, dressed or anything like ali. but he BECAME ali in that movie. an incredible transfromation. i also saw the film beyond the sea where spacey acted as bobby darin. now everyone knows that spaceys old crippled ass doesnt resemble darin who was young at the height of his career, but he did it. he BECAME darin. so i dont believe that "Once again the entire drift of this thread has gone completely over (my) head." i believe i have picked up the jist of what everybody is saying: kristin shouldnt play this role, and i disagree.

maybe after she's done with dusty, she can portray aretha franklin...that would be a beautiful challenge.
