- get home to California to see the family I moved away from to come to NYC - see all the Broadway shows, NYPhil, basement jazz combos, and everything else - see my sig other back on stage; she is a professional ballerina, something lost to the much more commercial world of Broadway is many other performers facing the same challenge… but for many, without other acting fallbacks (like TV) and with a career that is shorter - 20 years if you’re lucky, minus 1-3 depending on children plans, possibly 1-3 lost to injury… losing two seasons to COVID has been terribly saddening in the prime of her career -be back in the office, commuting, seeing people… yes, I am actually over the work from home idea and looking forward to that 4 train commute and grand central terminal rat race - visit Europe
In 1967, my then Navy shipmate and now husband and I, visited Paris for the first (but not last) time. It was there that we decided to spend our lives together. Because we are absolute Olympic Games geeks, we are visiting again in 2024 to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games. 2024 will mark 100 years since Paris last hosted the Games (1924), and it will mark 57 years of togetherness for my husband and I.
I hope all your Bucket List items will be realized.

You probably have seen this clip of Mary Martin's "Dolly" in Vietnam. Quite emotional. I don't know the exact timeline, but from Vietnam she found her way to London. The wonderful Dora Bryan replaced her in London, and that was the first stage version of Dolly that I saw (in 1967).
How about naming all the ladies, and perhaps gentlemen, you have seen portray Dolly?
I just hope I can see more shows in the future and meet my heroes virtually, unless I break into the industry. I have been waiting to rave and talk smack about new shows for a long time, and I would love to continue getting and sharing information with all of you - some of the most culturally inclined and knowledgeable folks in the biz.
The beautiful city of Valencia, Spain, has been selected as the host site for the 2026 Gay Games. The other two final contenders were Guadalajara and Munich. The Gay Games have been held every four years since 1982, and typically attract upwards of 15,000 participants (of all athletic abilities) and 100,000 attendees. We (my husband and I) plan to run the 10K at almost age 80.
Since posting some many months ago, I have downsized my Bucket List. Did not make it to the Coronation Ceremonies, but still hope to participate in the Gay Games (10K) in Valencia, Spain, in 2026.
And what about you guys? What's on your Bucket List?
With Bob Newhart's passing I reflected on how fortunate I was to have seen him perform live once here at one of the casinos in the Vancouver area.
Right now I can't think.of any other specific performer I haven't seen, that I would like to.
Just about half an hour ago I was in the office of somebody in another department who I speak to very infrequently, and she was playing an Adele album. I'm not really a fan, but if tickets to her shows weren't so ridiculously over priced I would have maybe tried to see her sometime in Las Vegas.
Again grateful I saw one of Celine Dion's last shows at Caesar's Palace before the medical issues that are keeping her from performing flared up.
In a couple weeks time I'm knocking something off my list by visiting Santa Fe & seeing a couple performances at the opera there.
Spain, and especially Barcelona, is on my travel bucket list. But they don't really want tourists anymore.
