I don't have any reason to believe it would NOT be the 7:30.

I feel its almost certainly the evening show. I bought tix, so it better be!

I purchased a ticket to the evening show on TodayTix first thing this morning, and just received an email from TodayTix saying that my order has been canceled because the show unexpectedly sold out of tickets in my requested section/price point. I called their customer service number, only to have the automated line tell me that they’re too busy to speak to me, so I should send an email instead. Livid isn’t an accurate word for what I’m feeling at the moment.

I'm just putting more André as the Wizard in Wicked energy out into the world - and, if up to it, Liza as Morrible (I mean, The Wiz and Dorothy's daughter). André is one of the best musical theatre talents of our generation and I hope that he gets a chance to give a performance that will live on forever and ever in a big once-in-lifetime type film :)

Miserant, that is so awful. I can’t believe they did that.

I’m not even sure how it happened. I placed my order relatively early in the morning, and then hours later I get an email saying that my order was canceled because tickets sold out? Has this ever happened to anyone else? Not gonna lie, I am still so disappointed.

I think the issue is that TodayTix has to buy the tickets, since they're not the official seller for Jujamcyn, and whenever their system went to buy them that price level was no longer available. There are still seats left on SeatGeek, the official seller, starting at $249.

Yeah, you buy from TodayTix and then someone from TodayTix will actually go to the box office and buy the tickets. If they aren't fast enough to buy the tickets, they can still sell out through SeatGeek or someone else at the box office.

His performance in Hadestown was one of the greatest I’ve ever seen on Broadway. I can’t recall another actor who took hold of a show, and the audience, so effortlessly from the moment he appeared on stage.
De Shields wasn’t the first actor to play Hermes in the show, and I have read good things about his replacements too. But he elevated the musical in a way that’s stuck with me nearly two years later.

Yipes! Kind'a harsh there, Ermengarde... ![]()
I think having him play the Wizard in the Wicked movie would be a lovely and nostalgic bookend in his career (not that his career would be over after Hadestown, mind you).
Also, if it turned out that he was astonishingly fabulous in the role, or if the movie role were somehow tweaked to favor him, he could perhaps earn the missing Oscar on his EGOT bingo card...

So grateful and honored to have seen him in the role back in September. At his age I wonder if he’s just moving on to a new project or if he’s retiring from acting altogether. Either way, he’s gonna have some big shoes to fill.

I would prefer Nathan Lane"
Oh God, please no to Nathan Lane as The Wizard.
Didn't realize that Mr De Shields was out so often, which makes me more grateful that he was in the evening I saw the show.

Does anyone know when he's scheduled to be out for this next month?

He was in both times I've seen the show. I'd love to see James Monroe Iglehart replace him. I'm not sure what's next for him since he left Chicago.

James Iglehart would be a VERY interesting direction for the role. He'd be like a mix of DeShields and Sullivan. I'm in!

Congratulations to Mr De Shields for his Tony award winning performance in this brilliant, brilliant show. When I saw the show in 2019, the entire audience was putty in his hands. Bravo!

FYI Andre de Shields is at an event in Philly tonight so if you’re going to Hadestown just to see him, you’ll be out of luck.
