Ethel Merman: I cannot stand to listen to her. Julia Murney can get on my nerves sometimes.
Ethel, Bernadette, Amy McAlexander...
i'm sure there is more..but they all irritate me...

But then again, I'm sure some people hate the sound of my voice.
i'm no fan of teh woman who plays the goddess of love in Once On This Island OBC recording (Human Heart).... out of control old lady vibrato. Also, Daphne goes from cool-sounding to crappy on the RENT soundtrack.

ETA: elaine stritch has been excused die to the explanations below
carole shelley (simply because her gasps between every single phrase of the wizard and i intro on the wicked cd)
Um... i don't want to be attacked for saying this, but some small parts of L5Y when Sherie Rene Scott sings, some of her vowels that she holds just bug the crap out of me... but otherwise i love her voice, lol.
I just cannot stand Gerard Butler. I cannot handle his voice-it drives me insane with anger. I have to leave the room.
I forgot about:
Emmy Rossum
Gerard Butler
Kerry Butler
Daphne Rubin-Vega
jonartdesigns-Elaine Stritch does not have a good voice at all. She "speak-sings" her songs. What I like about the way she "sings" is that she acts the song, so it does not matter that she does not have a voice. The same goes for Carol Channing.

Love, love, love Elaine Stritch - she may not be the best singer in the world, but she's the real deal! As far as annoying voices, please put me in the camp that doesn't understand what the deal is with Linda Eder's voice - kind of like warmed-over Barbara Streisand... not my cup of tea I'm afraid!
<3 Kerry Butler. Such a flexible voice. MJW on Hairspray..on the other hand....I was...blah.
Mandy Patinkin-On and off. During "The Right Girl" on the Follies Concert he's so nasal and ugh! But he's so great in other things he sings. I'm on and off about his voice, but when I'm off about it I'm really off about it!
definitely sporky...gerard butler drives the hell out of me! he's just not even a singer.
Kristin Chenoweth, Marissa Jeret Winokur, and Harvey Fierstein. I know, so predictable.
Kristin Chenoweth if I am not in a very *perky* mood...Kerry I adore to death but lately she has been whining like crazy. Andrea Mcardle and Audra Mcdonald at some points.

Oddly enough there are not that many performers who annoy me, but I agree with everyone who said Sarah Brightman. Ugh! My boyfriend says she sounds like Miss Piggy on helium. And while I like Ethel Merman I agree with that too.
I forgot Christy Carlson Romano and Charlotte Church...AND JEWEL...can't stand her...
Mister Matt is genius with the Vanessa Williams comment. I HATE WHEN SHE DOES THAT drop at the end of the phrase. its so annoying. im gonna record my cousin's impersonation of her singing it's hilarious.
Carolee Carmello. I liked her on the Parade soundtrack, but her vibratto was too goat like in person and it annoyed me. Maybe it was an off-day, but I was cringing during the Wall to Wall.
I second Mandy, Ethel, MJW. Patti Lupone is ok in small doses. Rebecca Luker's voice doesn't annoy me so much as I find it terribly uninspiring. She has a good voice...it's just...there's nothing unique about it. Celeste Holms, a lot of the "character actresses" in R & H OBC's.
Leslie Ann Warren from the 60's Cinderella movie, Jennifer Holiday (I know, but it's the yelling-singing that I don't like), Barbra Streisand sometimes annoys me-less though than when I was younger, Carol Channing, The Laurie on the recent London Cast with Hugh Jackman.
