Was anyone else a little surprised Kinky Boots is not performing? Is there a specific reason for this? or its just how it is?
Nothing against Kinky Boots or anything, but this parade is mostly for kids and Kinky isn't really a kids show... There could be a possibility of it showing up later on the list.

Not all of the shows have been announced yet. They may still be performing.

A few years ago, Harvey Fierstein rode a float dressed in drag as Mrs. Santa Claus. If the Kinky Boots producers want their production number in, they'll get it in.

Kinky is probably performing, but producers have just not confirmed. Say yeah would look great on the parade broadcast. Unless, Billy and Stark are going to perform "not my fathers son."
At first I was surprised that there was no CINDERELLA. Then I remembered they performed last year...even before they had a preview performance.
Is it right that there are only TWO Broadway shows performing this year??

Maybe more will be announced.

I am a huge KB fan but I don't know if I need to see them at the parade.
That said, I am excited for the Matilda cast. Those kids will make a special memory for themselves...not everyone gets to be showcased in the Macy's parade. And I would imagine since some of the cast will age-out at some point, it might be one of the last things they will do together as a group. I really look forward to it.
I have a feeling the two productions that will be performing that have yet to be announced are Kinky Boots and Big Fish
Big Fish sure needs the exposure and "Write Your Own Story" has parade written all over it.
Kinky Boots will likely do "Everyone Say Yeah".
First Date will be performing on one of the parades - not sure if it's the NBC or CBS telecast, but they filmed a performance for one of the parades.
It most likely is CBS as they only show taped shows.
You're right, E. Davis, it must be CBS. The CBS telecast is the one that had Anything Goes, Newsies, and West Side Story taped performances in the past.

The other taped performance on CBS will be A Night With Janis Joplin.

The cast of Pippin was just added to the NBC lineup!
Carrie Underwood and Sound of Music will perform as well!
NBC first hour live!!

I can remember when the revival of Cabaret performed a number for the parade. The commentators made a big deal out of the fact they had to heavily clean up the song/choreography for the kid-friendly audience. Also, the Chicago revival performed and THAT's certainly not a kids show.

Kinky Boots is more of a kids show than either Chicago or Cabaret with their really mature themes...war, crimes, murder, etc as opposed to KB"s love, acceptance and be yourself themes.
However, I still don't think it needs to be at the parade. I don't think it translates well outside of the big picture of the show as a whole...certainly not at a parade. I don't think there is any reason for it to be there.

Performances from the casts of Cinderella, First Date and A Night with Janis Joplin will be shown on CBS.

Cinderella will be performing. And I predict it will be a great number.
I could see 'Raise You Up' working very, very well for the parade. Even if the cast just wears jeans and show logo shirts. The energy is so high when that song is live, plus it works well out of context.
The b'way shows see this as a commercial. Pure and simple. Family friendly hardly comes into thier minds -- if they want to spend the money, they'll likely be given the chance.
