I'm headed to new york on thursday with friends and ill be there sunday. I'm seeing caroline or change, wicked, avenue q, i am my own wife, and bare. It should be fun, i'll be sure to do some reviews. Anyone have any fun ideas of things to do while i'm there?
Is this a first time in NY?
no, i go every summer for a few weeks, this time im taking a few friends who have never been.
So do all the tourist stuff. And try www.timeout.com and click on NY for the cool reastaurants and stuff.
My fav is The Cloisters at the upper end of Fort Tryon Park.

This is such a touristy thing, and I have only done it once (I've never really done anything touristy in NYC) but I highly recommend it.... in the Empire State Building there's a thing called the Sky Ride. It's an Imax tour of the city (done in a VERY fun way), but you sit in this large platform that moves with the movie. I took some friends who'd never been to Manhattan before, a few years back. Had a great time on it!

I did the empire state building sky ride 2 years ago and i caught the flu from how dirty and dingy it was in that basement. The last 5 days of my trip were spent lying in bed for a less than mediocre ride. haha, these are great suggestions!
Madam Toussant's (sp?) Wax Museum is really fun. It's kind of expensive, but really cool!

They've since moved it... it's not in the basement -- it's on the 6th floor I believe, so I might be wrong on what year I took my friends there.

It's Madame Toussaud's, I think :-/ - but however you spell it, it's fun! Definitely check that out. And go shopping!
i LOVE the Jekyll&Hyde Resturant!
You can always spend ur free time drinking Mojitos :)
The NY Botanical Gardens are gorgeous about this time of year. Do yourself a favor & check it out. Le Bar Bat is a fun place to eat ~ nice atmosphere and I had a really great meal. And don't forget the classic Sardi's..... a pre-show must for NY theatre virgins. I also suggest catching a late show downtown & ending with a few rounds of drinks & sing-a-longs at the Duplex or Monster in the Village.

Enjoy!
My time to visit won't come till early fall this year - and I am already excited about it - even if it will cost me one big jet lag ( 17 flying hours
)
Jo: 17 hours? Where are u coming from?
My favorite little Italy rest. is Pomordorro's on the corner of Spring and Mulberry. The vodka lasagna is the best!

Yup - it is all of 17 flying hours, plus a couple more for a stopover in Narita, Japan.
