Seems like the L&L estate just can’t figure out to do with Brigadoon, huh?
To my knowledge this is now at least the 5th adaptation in the past 20 years:
Plus SCHMIGADOON!

Has there ever been a time since its release where we DIDN’T get a big regional production or two or three each year?
It’s a good play, it can be directed in different ways, and it’s a play whose title actually means something because people love the movie.
That's probably true! We're getting two in the Chicagoland area from major companies and now this one... which admittedly is only three! I can't recall large equity theaters running productions but I'm sure it happens all the time. As you said, it is a great play! Great opportunities for actors and staging. I'm excited.
Would love to see a big, lavish, period-set Broadway revival of AMADEUS someday!

A few years ago, Anthony Ramos announced he was playing Mozart in a Broadway revival of Amadeus, but it never materialized. I imagine that part of the reason is that it is not cheap to mount. Salieri is also a mammoth role (the film cut/trimmed some of his very long speeches), and in Broadway's modern economy, would not only require a big film star to sell tickets, but one with a good deal of stage experience (ideally in the classics).
As for Brigadoon...I am very fond of the show, but I don't get why people keep trying to resurrect it with rewrites. Maybe it needs to actually disappear for a hundred years before anyone tries again.
I misread the thread title and thought Christopher SIEBER was rewriting Brigadoon and I was like “WHEN DID HE FIND THE TIME?”

SCHMIGADOON! almost certainly falls under Parody. I'm pretty sure the L&L estate had nothing to do with it.

Most definitely. That's why it's separate from the 5 adaptations of Brigadoon.

Ramos always seemed like horrible casting to me for this.
Cole Escola & Andrew Scott?
Daniel Radcliffe & James McAvoy?
Andrew Garfield & Chiwetel Ejiofor?
James Corden & Matthew MacFadyen?
Bowen Yang & David Tennant?
Mark Rylance & Geoffrey Rush alternating roles & playing younger? ;)

Excited to see who they get to do Eureka Day
Loved the City Center version of Brigadoon back in 2017. Christopher Wheeldon’s choreography was stunning.
I wish they would give more specific dates instead of saying just Spring.
I was looking at if I were to make a visit mid-March, and I could see:
Here Lies Love at the Mark Taper Forum & Akhnaten at LA Opera.
At the Geffen Playhouse they have scheduled both a new play about Sylvia Plath ( Sylvia, Sylvia,Sylvia by Beth Hyland), and Sara Porkalob's new play Dragon Mama
If I were interested, Beetlejuice will be at the Pantages.
I'm not crazy about Brigadoon, but if it fit the schedule that would be cool.
Then I would hop over to Las Vegas for one of Jennifer Lopez's shows at Caesars Palace.
Last night I booked hotels in LA & LV, but it is a bit early to book flights.
The only thing is I also have already also been making plans for Mexico for February. I've been telling myself, "This winter I'm going back to Mexico." If I did La/LV in March I would cancel Mexico in February. That plan is half a week in Mexico City to see museums & Teotihuacan, and the half a week in Puerto Vallarta.
I don't know why, but airfare to Mexico is double or more than what flights the LA & LV are. Everyone tells me that once you've there everything food cheaper. Hotels in Mexico City are not cheaper. I don't find food that expensive in LA, or in NYC for that matter. But maybe I'm just used to high prices here in Vancouver.
Edited. Inception.
