tix choice - Vanya vs Assembled Parties vs The Nance vs Kinky Boots

Eliminate the Nance by default. Nathan Lane is giving a Nathan Lane performance. And the play is mediocre at best.

Vanya is easily my favorite new play of the season and the cast is phenomenal. Any "theatre person" would likely love it.

For your second option, I personally would pick The Assembled Parties. The play is decent but the cast is incredible.

Kinky Boots will be around for much longer than the two plays if they have another chance to come back into the city and is a really overblown glitter fest; it's only slightly less irritating and manufactured looking than Priscilla. Billy Porter is good (not great) and the rest of the cast ranges from passable (Stark Sands) to terrible. The score is tuneful and the show is fun if you're not in the mood for something serious, but I think the other two plays are a much better option.

Vanya and Kinky Boots by a long shot. The Nance is just OK and I thought The Assembled Parties--with the exception of Judith Light and the Act I set--was a bore.

Heard nothing but great things about Vanya-- sure it will win the Tony but we don't see it till the end of June so can't vouch for the raves.

Agree with jax above that Assembled Parties was a bore but for Hecht and Light's performances. Not worth losing sleep over if you miss.

But please please consider seeing The Nance-- for me it was infinitely better than Kinky Boots! Amazing heartbreaking performances not just by Nathan Lane (for whom this is the definitive role), but by Jonny Orsini, Lewis J Stadlen, and awesome lady strippers as well. Incredible design, haunting songs, goosebumply recreation of a long-lost form of entertainment, and hysterical to boot. Disregard the nay-sayers on this board-- this is the show people will be asking about on boards like this decades from now.

Kinky Boots was amazing...Vanya was blah, I haven't seen the other 2.

Eliminate Assembled Parties. Not a great play. Don't really understand the point of it all. Went over my head.

Vanya is stellar in every way. Great Play. Great Cast. Don't miss.

I can't imagine coming to Broadway and not seeing a big musical so Kinky Boots would fit the bill although (Pippin-not on your list)is an amazing production. Better that the original.
And the best musical on Broadway right now.
The Nance is also terrific. I liked the play and the performances..... but if I had to pick two--
Kinky and Vanya.
