she's so rude and mean. i just called to ask if they had standing room for tonite and she simply said "no" in a very rude tone of voice. why is she so rude? i would kill to have her job =D

Well...not saying rudeness is excusable, but she's probably a little busy at 7:34pm when there's an 8pm show.

While she's dealing with all the people picking up their tickets at the last minute? When the show hasn't been sold out for a while and one of the requirements for SRO is that the show's sold out?

Why not just go to the box office and ask? I mean, if you're close enough to get there by 8 after calling at 7:30, it's NOT a huge schlep to the box office to ask. Lazy much?

Honestly, I've called the Nederlander box office twice and dealt with a rude woman both times. Unfortunate, although I'm not sure a thread was really necessary.

SORRY, but here's what I have to SAY...... It's all about customer service, isn't it? I would REPORT anyone RUDE to the MANAGER of the theatre! There's just NO EXCUSE.... and I do mean NONE! I don't care if they've had a bad day or if they simply have a wet diaper... they are THERE to SERVE the public! It's even MORE terrible that she's at the theatre that's playing RENT (since it's all about trying to understand situations that others are in). NEXT time... tell her she should be working at The New Amsterdam... her and Mary Poppins "SPIT SPOT" attitudes might be more suited!

If this isn't a troll, I have to ask -- what box office has a number you can call directly to speak to a person AT the theatre? I mean, I know they have phones there for their own use, but those numbers aren't published for the public to call to buy tickets. Has this changed?

If not, I don't blame them for being rude to people calling on a number that's not intended for ticket sales. Obviously calling Ticketmaster isn't going to get you an answer on standing room, but unfortunately that's the point of standing room -- you have to go to the theatre to buy it.

You are correct, partially.

Though most theatres on Broadway do not have a direct phone number for the general public, a handful do, such as the Minskoff, the Marquis, the New Amsterdam, the Neil Simon and the Nederlander -- which are indeed listed.
