Agree with Pippin

 

Golden would be really hard to stage because of its flashy numbers and costumes & Encores has a limited budget. Minnie's would be hard as they would have to find 4 young guys who could do the Marx Brothers.  The originals were perfect & would be hard to top.

Only know it from the OBC. Amazing songs, but the charm quotient seems way too high for today's audiences to find palatable. And who can match Miss Barbara Cook's shimmery heartbreaking soprano today?

A Day In Hollywood/A Night In The Ukraine

I think it was a Marx Brothers musical and I think Priscilla Lopez won a Tony as Harpo.

Act II is a Marx Brothers musical.

Act I is a revue of songs about Hollywood.

Lopez also gets the great Jerry Herman song "Best in the World" from Act I.

 

I've never seen a production of this show and was just thinking recently that I wish someone would do it.

Hollywood/Ukraine..this looks like something Encores should be able to do. I youtubed the Famous Feet and Production Code songs and dances...maybe they think it needs to be updated too much.

Two of my favorites as a kid- Flora The Red Menace- and Skyscraper- a musical -I loved it and never hear anything about it- it starred Juiie Harris.  Also loved Drat The Cat- caught performance 3 of 4.

Saw it on Broadway and it is fine just as it is.
