Trump Awards

How can Trump hate Hamilton?!

The show features adultery, a crush on a relative, back room deals and it ends with an immigrant being shot.

What’s not for him to love??

Donald Trump Takes Over the Kennedy Center
 Mar 13 2025, 11:35:58 PM

I am a member of IATSE in California and while we have our share of MAGAts, our particular union would definitely be more left. The communication from IATSE is also very left during election season.

I’m saying you’re wrong, but it’s a bummer that people who can use the security that their union provides to make a very well paid living also back a party movement that is anti-union.

2025 - 2026 Touring Season

That being said, the Dolby undeniably has the best location for the Act II opener walk. At the Ahmanson Joe would just be wandering around a concrete terrace with no people, and at the Pantages he would be by parking lots and a Dunkin…

I’d love to see him try to bob and weave around Iron Man, Mickey Mouse and aspiring musicians instead!

My only guess with all of the shows at the Pantages is *maybe* Sunset Blvd will have an extended run at the Ahmanson?

MAMMA MIA! Will Embark on 25th Anniversary North American Tour

Is it completely bonkers to dream of Sherie Rene Scott playing Donna?

Mamma Mia! is my all time favorite show, and I’m so happy I had second thoughts about a trip in April, so now we can do a trip in August!

Broadway at the Oscars 2025 Edition

All my love to Gene Hackman; but James Earl Jones is the VOICE of motion pictures, and absolutely deserved to be featured far more than he was.

SUNSET BLVD. Revival

What does her apology and tickets for this show have in common?

I’m just not buying it.

I have to agree.  I’d love to “rise above” and separate the art from the artist, but that red hat absolutely killed the HUGE ANTICIPATION I had to see this show. I had it on repeat on Spotify and had a trip to NYC planned with Sunset as the main attraction; and all of that went away.

Luckily I live in LA, so hopefully the show comes here next with a different star…

Broadway in Hollywood announces on March 7th but today they announced Phantom will be an add-on production and will play the Pantages on June 24th - August 9th, 2026.

Bernadette Peters & Lea Salonga to Lead OLD FRIENDS On Broadway

I am curious too! We’re seeing the show on Friday night and I was looking forward to seeing my favorite Zaddy!

Who's still out there from 2003?
 Feb 11 2025, 03:32:07 PM

I’m part of the original cast, a refugee from the Broadway.com board! I joined in July, but that was after lurking for a month or so.
It took some time because I remember that a lot of the original users of this board were on the younger side, so the initial conversations were not very inspiring. There was actually a lot of praise for “Dance of the Vampires” which always makes me laugh.
My biggest claim to fame on this site is I was actually real life friends

Donald Trump Takes Over the Kennedy Center
 Feb 7 2025, 06:45:11 PM

As a closeted gay kid growing up in the Midwest, the Kennedy Center Honors was a yearly glimpse at Broadway royalty; long before YouTube came along. Every year, I would record the sections featuring Broadway, and would play them over and over. The Kander and Ebb tribute remains my favorite amongst them all.

As with everything Trump has “accomplished” in his presidency, nothing is about making lives better for the people who voted for that. It’s only

What Next For The Majestic?
 May 9 2024, 06:29:49 AM

Not crazy about the maroon and gold with the cream and blue…

((I realize it’s the house curtain that won’t be viewed with most of the productions that come to play the Majestic; but the differences in the contrasts that throw me off.))

What’s Next for the Palace Theatre?

I rarely post on here, but did Mr. Roxy pass??

Second to that; I think the Palace looks amazing, minus the carpet. I love the blue, and the chandelier.

MAMMA MIA! 25th Anniversary Tour recoups in 13 weeks
 Mar 5 2024, 12:08:55 AM

I’ve seen the show almost 150 times, and I agree with the poster above that this cast is fantastic! (And a second agreement with Tanya singing amazing; right up there with Karen Mason!)

Let’s hope they spend some money on some set upgrades, as the soft side legs and light-less floor shouldn’t come to Broadway.

MAMMA MIA! Will Embark on 25th Anniversary North American Tour
 Nov 15 2023, 01:27:22 PM

I saw the tour in Los Angeles last night, and it was an ABBAsolutely fabulous night at the Pantages! I have seen the show more than 125 times with a vast majority of that being at the Winter Garden with the original cast. (I was 20 years old, and couldn’t get into bars, so I would just go and see the show every Friday night from standing room.)

The Great:

CHRISTINE SHERRILL as Donna. Wow, she is fantastic! I’ve seen many actresses play the role, and I think Christine

SARAH BRIGHTMAN To Star in SUNSET BLVD In Sydney
 Oct 9 2023, 03:30:54 PM

I was just trying to make a post about this, but I kept misspelling things because I am so excited! Everything about this announcement seems so exciting with Sarah being the unlikely, yet perfect choice for this role. And the part about the stunning sets is very intriguing as well!

Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden Theatre
 Jun 26 2023, 04:58:48 PM

I've been looking over some photos from when Mamma Mia! played at the Winter Garden.

Other than removing 1 or 2 rows of seats from the front orchestra, it also appears that the boxes closest to the stage were also covered. Where I'm confused is I would think they would have extended out where the black sides of the proscenium appear flat.

Does anyone have any information about technical specs or set installation from when Mamma Mia! played there?

Thanks!

Tony-winning scenic designer Eugene Lee (SWEENEY, WICKED, etc) has died at age 83.
 Feb 8 2023, 05:32:15 AM

Oof… I haven’t posted on here in ages, but this is one of the more painful deaths for me.

Eugene Lee was an absolute master of a set designer. He  inspired me with his larger than life stage designs, and I’m so thankful that I’ve been able to see his work on stages in New York City, Denver, Las Vegas and Southern California.

It’s pretty cool that he designed Wicked, Showboat and Sweeney Todd all for the Gershwin Theatre. It&rs
