So, aside from the WICKED performance, what else are we looking forward to tonight?
Cynthia and Ariana sounded great.
I loved Conan’s monologue but that musical number was a clunker. TBH, I’d like to see him try his hand at a one-man show someday.

Already on Youtube.
'Wicked' stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo perform "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Home," and "Defying Gravity" at the 97th Academy Awards.

Paul Tazewell is now a Grammy away from an EGOT.
I've been following Wicked for over 20 years and I don't think I've ever seen Defying Gravity sung better live. Brava.
Maybe the bar was on the floor but I think the show has been excellent. And hooray for Paul Tazewell.
i've watched the Wicked medley several times already. Can we pencil them in for next year's Oscars and have them do "For Good"?
WICKED also won for production design, and that should be all the tallies for them this evening.
Didn’t like that Bond medley at all.
Mick Jagger looks AWESOME at his age. Saw him perform last year and he’s still got it.

I'm so glad she didn't win.
It's half of a character arc.
If she brings it in Part Two? Cool.
But come on- to see her get nominated but they didn't nominate Rachel Zegler for West Side Story?
Miley looks like she’s ready to play Sally Bowles.
When the filmmakers of No Other Land walked up to accept their award Marc, and his wife Julie, Platt could be seen looking rather upset.

this made me lol, never change Jorge.
a touching speech from a Palestinian and an Israeli peace activist, and you take a screen shot of two people applauding them as evidence of....something. Really lol, gonna share this with my friends, thanks!
Erivo sounds incredible always, but Grande at this point seems to be doing a caricature of herself at all times? Conan's hilarious. Great year for screenwriting.
It was nice to hear the movie version of "Ease on Down the Road" but was really hoping they were going to do a medley of his film music.

well I'm glad ANORA won most of the major awards and not Emilia Perez.

Agreed. This was such a missed opportunity. He was so much more than the film version of The Wiz.

Marc Platt was a producer of the TV movie version of Oslo, a play about an attempt to peacefully resolve the Israeli /Palestinian conflict. I'm not aware of any reason he'd be upset about the win.
All my love to Gene Hackman; but James Earl Jones is the VOICE of motion pictures, and absolutely deserved to be featured far more than he was.

“Likewise, insiders say “La La Land” producer Marc Platt texted WME leadership about why Boots Riley was still a client after the “Sorry to Bother You” writer-director urged his followers on X to boycott an industry screening of footage of Hamas atrocities at the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. He dubbed the footage “murderous propaganda” and warning that “when IDF and Israeli officials are at The Hague for war crimes, massacres and genocidal actions- you wont want your name or image to have been anywhere near it.”However, Riley remains an agency client. A Platt rep says he merely flagged the posts.”

Talk about a missed opportunity. The tribute was introduced by Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey, co-stars of ''The Color Purple,'' which earned Jones TWO Oscar nominations (Original Score and Song). If you're only gonna represent Jones with one song, it should've been ''Miss Celie's Blues (Sister),'' which he actually co-wrote with Rod Temperton and Lionel Richie. But I guess the telecast wanted an uptempo.

So missed. I was sitting there thinking, if The Wiz is how you want to pay tribute to him, light that stage up with the "Emerald City Sequence". He wrote, arranged and cameoed in it. It is really the only reason I bought the movie soundtrack.
