SUNSET BLVD. Reviews
 Oct 21 2024, 12:20:01 AM

Man these reviews have left me more confused about whether to see the show. One the one hand it sounds like Nicole’s performance is not to be missed but that there are flaws with the show and Lloyd’s direction is either you love it or hate it. I know nothing about the show, don’t know the music, but am still not sure whether to see this or Gypsy in the revival slot during the next trip

SUNSET BLVD to transfer to Broadway

Given the lack of sets and projections etc. what are people’s thoughts about where to sit? Is this something that will be a good view from the balcony? If you sat on the sides would you miss some? I know a lot of us don’t always buy the most expensive tickets so I’m just wondering which of the cheaper options will be the best. This has me intrigued.

I saw it last week. It was…ok. I would say there are a bunch of better shows currently  playing. It’s very UK centric so if she’s not familiar with British humour or strong British accents I would say give it a miss

Marlow & Moss' SIX follow-up, WHY AM I SO SINGLE? musical, heads to the West End
 Sep 15 2024, 06:21:20 PM

I went and saw this tonight. I had a free evening and figured I’d see a show. I didn’t realize that the West End Sunday is Broadway Monday so it was slim pickings for an evening show. For 35£ I got a ticket in the balcony. I went into this totally blind but had enjoyed Six so figured I’d give it a try.

This is very much a West End show. Most of the jokes are very West End/British centric and unlike Six I don’t see them translating for Bro

Ok so I just got home from the evening performance. My lord Caissie Levy is amazing as Diana. I saw her as Fantine on Broadway and while she was good there it was a smaller role in terms of stage time. Tonight she was pretty much on the stage the whole show. From the 4th row I could see all the emotions and every little nuance of her performance. She is literally putting her whole body into the show.

it was my first west end show since 2012. I have to say the audience

Denzel Washington to return to Broadway in OTHELLO?

$250 for the last row of the mezzanine is psychotic.
"

yeah these prices are pretty steep. There are a few seats on the side in the orchestra for $196  but otherwise the only other seats in the 100s are in the rear mezz

I just bought my ticket on telecharge. All you have to do is enter your Amex card number at check out. These are some expensive seats. Didn’t want to pay over $200 a seat so I’m in the front grow of the rear mezz for $176 on a Wednesday night. Looks like this is gonna be a hot ticket to get given the number of seats that are already sold. Nothing in the orchestra for under $300. Front mezz is $500 and it looks like cheapest seat in the rear mezz during the week is $135

June TRIP

After seeing 8 shows last month on my trip I would say add Hell’s Kitchen or Appropriate. I saw Appropriate and Mother Play and if I had to pick one it would be appropriate

They finished recording yesterday! I’m kind of surprised this process was so long, they were recording before opening.

They just posted on Instagram the release date is June 7!

HELL'S KITCHEN Reviews

Saw the show tonight and the full cast were in. The show was fantastic. A great way to end my annual week of theatre in NY. Maleah was wonderful and is definitely a star in the making. She was so sweet and genuine at the stage door and really took time with each person. Kind of surprised that she was taking photos and hugging people with the month she has ahead but she seemed to really be enjoying the love the was deservedly heading her way.

Spring Trip Suggestions
 May 4 2024, 05:25:40 PM

I saw both The Outsiders and Water for Elephants this week and would definitely pick The Outsiders out of the two. W4E is good for the circus stunts but I think overall The Outsiders is a better show with better music.

Also if you are looking for another play I would definitely recommend Appropriate. A really strong cast across the board.

THE GREAT GATSBY Opening Night Critics’ Reviews
 May 2 2024, 10:21:11 PM

Was at the matinee today and enjoyed it much more that I thought I would. Is it a great show? No but it is a good time at the theatre. Yes Jeremy Jordan’s accent in it is a little weird but his voice sounds like butter so that made up for it. The dance numbers are great and the ensemble is working their butts off. It’s a spectacle  and because of that I think it will have a decent run for a while. Eva sounds really good but the standout for me was Sam Pauly. She had the sass

MOTHER PLAY Opening Night Critics’ Reviews
 May 2 2024, 10:09:29 PM

Caught the matinee yesterday and really enjoyed it. Honestly the standout for me was CKB. I enjoyed seeing Jim Parsons live but in some ways it felt like I was watching Sheldon Cooper  up on the stage. CKB controlled the stage like I felt she did in TKAM. Overall it was a great experience, and to see a legend like Jessica Lange on stage was something special. Was the script somewhat predictable? Yes. But I would definitely still recommend it.

I was at this performance and it was a pretty cool moment. You could see everyone on the stage was in the moment and appeared genuinely happy and appreciative of the love they were being given- which was well deserved. My first time being at a show on the day of Tony noms and a pretty cool experience.
