Cate Blanchett to star in THE SEAGULL at the Barbican Theatre in London

Yeah, idk how likely a transfer is, but I would plan a whole trip around it. Was thinking of going to see it in London, but I already had an NYC trip planned for this spring and can't manage both.

Bernadette Peters & Lea Salonga to Lead OLD FRIENDS On Broadway
 Feb 27 2025, 02:40:39 AM

Just saw this tonight, and it was fantastic! I was not familiar with most of the cast before this aside from Bernadette and Lea, but Beth Leavel, Gavin Lee, Jasmine Forsberg and Kyle Selig were all highlights as well. The staging was fun, too - even the songs I didn't know were engaging. And obviously this varies from day to day, but the audience was incredible tonight. Quiet, responsive, no phones to be seen... wish I could say the same about every show.

Genuinely thri

This just extended into my trip window. I am interested in seeing it, but was hoping for some more reactions/reviews!

Genuinely so glad to hear this!

If any LA area theaters put this on, I'd absolutely be a repeat attendee. This may be my favorite show, period, and while the Broadway version was incredible, I can see it thriving anywhere with the right cast and director.&

GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS To Play The Palace Starting 3/10/25

Bought on the aisle of the side orchestra because it was so reasonably priced and the slightly elevated sightlines looked good on A View from My Seat - crossing my fingers it's not too obstructed.

Travel Tips - Best months to visit NYC?
 Dec 9 2024, 05:06:18 PM

I like going in April and October whenever I can. The weather's usually pretty good (often rains at least part of the trip, but that's usually it), it's not as expensive as other times of year, and plenty of shows are open.

If you wait til mid-to-late May, you get the max amount of shows, but tickets and lodging are much more expensive because of graduations and things like that.

If you go at Christmas, there are also many shows open, but it's insanel

Mescal to bring Frecknall-helmed STREETCAR to Broadway?
 Dec 5 2024, 05:41:18 PM

After reading some comments about the membership basically paying for itself with the ticket discount, I joined and bought tickets a few days ago, and man, I am really glad I did. I was gonna see if I could get better seats through the AMEX sale - I got great ones for the James McAvoy Cyrano that way - but clearly, it did not work out the same way this time. Still in the queue out of curiosity, but with 4600+ people in front of me.

WHERE is Glengarry 2025 show gonna play?
 Dec 3 2024, 05:37:38 PM

I was trying to wait til they announced dates and a theater for this to plan my next NYC trip, because I want to see it, but with other stuff already on sale (Streetcar & Othello specifically), I didn't think it'd be smart to wait any longer, so I just booked for early April. I'd love if they managed to get into a theater by then, but I guess I wouldn't be mad if they pushed to next season, either. What's gonna kill me is if they open in like... May.

Absolutely loved this! It's super funny - like, much funnier than I was expecting it to be even after reading the comments here - and well acted, while also being incredibly touching. The audience, while not totally full, was really locked in, and I could hear laughter and tears in surround sound.

I appreciate folks highlighting this show here, and I would highly recommend it to others!

Dave Malloy's THREE HOUSES at Signature

Organized my spring trip around seeing this show, and yeah, absolutely worth it. I liked this even more than I liked Octet, probably because the sound is a little more reminiscent of Comet/GQ and those are my favorite Malloy pieces.

Despite the fact that it's about the pandemic, something I was really not begging for a musical about, it was funny and dark and weird and specific in a way that really worked for me (like most of his work, tbh). I enjoyed the theme, the lyrical patterns th

Just got back from this, a show I've been looking forward to since last year, and whew! I am so disappointed I hardly know where to start.

We saw this three times when it ran in LA last year - once toward the beginning of the run, once in the middle, and once toward the end, and we would have gone again for closing weekend if they hadn't cancelled because of illness. We absolutely LOVED the show, and it stayed more or less the same the whole run. We knew they'd probably tweak things fo

Is it time for an American Idiot revival?
 May 17 2024, 10:21:15 PM
I missed American Idiot the first time around, but I am psyched to see the Deaf West version. We went to see their Spring Awakening in LA because I liked a few songs from the show, which I also missed (too broke + far away for Broadway back then), and it was enormously touching and beautiful and got me super into the show.

While I am not gonna hold their American Idiot to that very high standard, I think they will do something really special with it and I can't wait! If it's a success,

THE GREAT GATSBY Opening Night Critics’ Reviews
 May 17 2024, 10:36:13 AM
Maybe it's because the comments and reviews posted here lowered my expectations tremendously, but I saw this yesterday and enjoyed it! Is it a good adaptation of the book? No. But it's a spectacle of a production, and entertaining in its own right.

The set design is incredible - I loved how they blended the practical sets and projections. The costumes deserved that Tony nom. Jeremy, Eva and Sam all sounded fabulous - Eva was the main reason I ended up deciding to go (well, that and the

Thanks so much for sharing, because I'm going to Chicago in July and this will fit into my plans perfectly! I've never been to Steppenwolf, excited to check it out.

That's awesome!

I am still salty that the only one we've been able to attend (The Tempest a few years back with Sam Waterston) got rained out at intermission. Maybe one day I'll be able to see the end!

Man, some of these reviews make me realize that listening to reviews here has probably caused me to miss out on some great stuff over the years! I saw this in LA (several times!) and absolutely loved it - looking forward to seeing it again in a couple of weeks at MCC. I think the story is pretty clear, but maybe not as substantial as some are looking for - it's a relationship drama. And it's loud, for sure, but hopefully a few more previews will allow them to tweak the audio if deciphering lyric
Mayer-helmed GALILEO musical and more part of Berkeley Rep season
 Apr 12 2023, 07:01:18 PM

Looks like I'm road tripping to Berkley next summer! That creative team is absolutely stacked. After I saw (and became a little obsessed with) The Lonely Few, I was poking around trying to see what else Zoe Sarnak was working on, and this looked promising. I'm only sad we have to wait a year!

Planning to see this production since I didn't get the chance to see it in NYC. Is there a bad place to sit for this show, or not so much?
