I am usually not a fan of bio-musicals, but this one will interest me. I love the music Bobby Darin sang and his short life was interesting. He was politically active (was at the Ambassador Hotel the night RFK was assassinated) and at one time thought of running for office. He had romantic relationship with singer Connie Francis, but they broke up due to her parent's disapproval of Darin. He would later move on and marry actress Sandra Dee. Darin had health issues his entire life which led to his death at age 37. Like many other Broadway fans, I love Jonathan Groff, and I have no reason to believe he will not be great in this role. The only question with this bio-musical is how good the book for this show which is usually the downfall of most bio-musicals.
I overlooked there was thread about this show that was created in 2018 and was recently updated. If the moderators want to delete this thread, that is ok with me
For those who are concerned about such things, the Telecharge page says that the show uses a gunshot sound effect.
Obviously, we won't know until March whether they're referring to blank(s) or soundboard effect(s). But, I suspect it has to do with the aforementioned assassination of RFK.
I hope there's some really hacky WALK HARD-style exchange like "I was on my way home last Saturday night but I tripped and fell in the mud. Which left me with only one thing to do." [ba da da da SPLISH SPLASH I WAS TAKIN A BATH]

“Splish Splash” already has a double meaning if you’re at a table seat and Groff comes close to you. ;)
If anyone is planning on getting tix for this (or anything else for that matter through Telecharge)- see if you have the $40 cash back on $180 offer from AmEx.
I did enjoy Spacey’s vanity Bobby Darin 2004 biopic BEYOND THE SEA and (thanks to good prosthetics) he did look a lot like him and vocally he was spot on. Rob Ashford’s choreography for the few lavish musical numbers was fantastic, most notably this one at the end of the film when Bobby dances with his younger self. I can watch it on a loop for hours:
Is it just me or do these tickets seem a little expensive out of the gate? Are they assuming that Merrily has made Groff a serious box office attraction. Think I am going to wait to see this at TKTS or with a better discount than offered today.
It's ok to start high –– they can always lower if they're not moving at that price point –– but I agree that the show will be a big test of Groff's drawing power.
It's also tough to sell on the promise of "the theatre's going to look like a nightclub, be part of the immersive experience!" without actually seeing what that looks like. Many shows have overpromised and underdelivered with things like that. I'm sure it will be shared with time (the design/layout probably isn't finalized yet), but the way GREAT COMET and HLL showed advance renderings of the space was great...not that those shows became hits
Here's the principal cast of the Signature Theatre concert, per a Reddit post.
Wonder if all are set for Broadway or if they were only in the concert? The press release said the Broadway production will have a cast of sixteen (a number that likely includes understudies).
