I'm not an expert on this, but the Axios article posted in the other Trump/KC thread points out that a law suit appears to be inevitable (the KC's name is protected by law, and would require an act of Congress to change it). Also, see HERE.
But, this is how Trump's ego operates. He selfishly acts destructively (i.e., his ballroom) with the knowledge that he has the money, and the self-manipulated powers of the presidency to participate in litigation.
Lawsuits are a large part of how Trump makes the money he needs to finance his self-centered megalomania (see his current 10 billion dollar - yes, that BILLION, with a "b" - lawsuit against the BBC).
It's a small act, but I would encourage as many who are inclined to do so, to boycott the broadcast of The Kennedy Center Honors on both CBS, as well as Paramount+. I hope people will use their resources to encourage others to do so as well.
The Honors received their highest TV ratings during Biden's presidency (Biden was in attendance). CBS received their lowest ratings the previous year, also during Biden's presidency.
In regards to hosting the show (which is, incidentally, the last year that CBS will broadcast the Honors), Trump has stated, "If I Can’t Beat Out Jimmy Kimmel in Terms of Talent, Then I Don’t Think I Should Be President” FYI, Kimmel has never hosted the KCH.
Additionally, he's predicted that the CBS broadcast on Dec 23rd, "will be the highest rated show they’ve ever done."
Nothing will get under Trump's skin more than: 1) getting worse ratings than Joe Biden while Biden holds onto his record for having the highest viewership on record, or 2) being ignored.
I hope people will both choose to boycott the show, and to encourage others to do so, also.
