What is the chance that there will be a cast recording of PIRATES! The Penzance Musical
?
I’d say pretty likely? New orchestrations, a fantastic cast & creative team, and a brand new adaptation of a show that hasn’t been revived on Broadway in over forty years.

99% likely considering it is Rupert Holmes, new orchestras and the cast involved

Highly unlikely. Limited run without deep pocket producers. Even a basic cast album costs $250,000. They just don't have the money.

Yes with Rupert involved and the potential for licensing (as a way to get the show known in other regions so theatres and schools will want to do the show themselves), they’ll work out a way to get a recording I should think.

Almost all of Roundabout's Broadway musical revivals receive cast albums- a glance at their production history, the only exceptions in the last twenty years seem to have been Threepenny Opera, The Apple Tree, and 1776 (I'm not counting the re-revival of Cabaret, as it was already recorded the first time around).
Agreed it is likely. I think “Limited run without deep pocket producers” is a bit of an unfair generalization to make about arguably the most powerful non-profit institution on Broadway, one who engages in commercial enhancements and partnerships behind closed doors on a very regular basis. If leadership wants it to happen they will absolutely find a way to swing it.
Is the absence of a recording for Roundabout's Threepenny probably due to licensing issues with Cyndi Lauper's recording contract, similar to the issues with Joan Jett in Rocky Horror a few years earlier?

I don't know that we've ever gotten a definitive answer to this but that seems fairly likely to me, at least.

Forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly but isn't there an unreleased recording of The Apple Tree revival?
