Well, this is… a choice. I’ll be there, don’t get me wrong, but I’m glad it’s not my investment.
There's...room for everybody, let's just say that!
Ok BUT I’m stoked to see Marla as Celine again.

I hope they are smart and keep their alternate showtimes of 5pm on Saturdays and 7pm on Sundays. I think that would help them out a bit, giving other times for people to fit the show in.

People complain about theaters sitting empty then have takes like this. The market is crap, this show has just as much shot as any of the others at success given it now has a decently established fanbase and IP. If they get Celine to show up, it can also have a bit of a pop culture moment too. Easy to assume they’ll close the balcony for this.
You can’t beg for a full season and then complain when it fills up.
I actually didn’t see this Off-Broadway so I’m here for it.
I’m assuming the entire original cast is transferring, with some rotating celebrity guest stars to join post-opening?

I’m excited to finally get the chance. I’ve seen 5 different Celines in total, but never Marla (the two times I went before her first departure, she was out). Lauren Drew and Jackie Burns have been my favorites, with Cayleigh Capaldi getting some love for sounding the closest to Celine’s actual voice.

How are the two related? There were tons of options but they wanted a limited run - which is also becoming an issue for musicals- the choice of this show that didn't fill a 300 seat theater and the economics of a limited run are the issue that people are raising. 1700 seats a night. Good luck raising the money.

My fingers are crossed really tightly that Constantine is doing it. You can’t buy the kind of chemistry he and Marla have, onstage.

I don’t see anyone saying the St. James should stay empty. All I see is people questioning why an Off-Broadway show that already lost its steam in its original run would move uptown to a theater almost 6 times its size. We can question producer thinking while also being happy a theater is being occupied and that people are being employed.

its their money, let them do what they want with it, glad some more people will be employed but
very hard to make any financial sense out of this whatsoever. a real indictment on the state of musical theater development.

There's no guarantee the OG cast will join. We'll see!

You act as though every show has their pick of theater at any given time. That’s not how it works. The opportunity presents itselfs, often won’t present itself again and producers make a choice if they will say yes or no.
This show also filled the 300 seat theater you speak of for months on end and ran longer than really any other off broadway endeavor since the pandemic and developed a large fanbase that was keen to revisit the show.

That’s far from a guarantee. I can imagine some of the original cast coming back (probably Constantine at minimum), but they have a huge theatre to fill so I would not be surprised if the entire original cast doesn’t come back. But you can use your socials to lobby them since I know some people in that original cast haven’t even been called about coming in for the transfer.
Sidebar: The fact that between this, Oh, Mary, and Cats are all going to be on Broadway during Pride Month is giving me Summer 2024 memories and I am HERE for it.

I just saw Matt Rogers's Christmas show this past week, and I hope the producers of this are already in touch with his team.
If you think of it as a little Off-Broadway show shooting its shot in one of the largest houses is Broadway it sounds bananapants, but if you think of it as the first stop on a planned North American tour that will allow them to advertise as "direct from Broadway" it makes a little more sense.

It lost money downtown and ran out of steam. Thats all. Other people turned down the limited run because it is financially irresponsible. The bigger question is why are they forcing musicals into limited runs at all. Holding the theaters back for what..Dolly, Prince, Evita? None of those are sure fire hits either....we need to nurture shows not hand cuff them.

Personally, I'm excited for this. I'm excited to see the elevated production design and see who they cast. People upset about this confuse me, I personally am not investing in this, and the opportunity seemed to present itself for a run.
I have an audio recording from a production that I listen to from time to time because I enjoy the music and those harmonies are beautiful. Hoping for an official cast recording down the line.
Curious if they'll try to get some names in some of the supporting roles. Ruth and Victor Garber both seem like great opportunities to get some inspired casting. I'd love to see a Drag Race Queen take on the Victor Garber role, that taps into a fanbase that seems eager to support Broadway.
Saw the show several years ago, and loved it. Will definitely see it again in May.

Not if it is a financial disaster...it already had heat and momentum from being the beloved downtown hit show...even though it lost money. This is a big risk that could damage the brand they built.

Me, too. Glad I'll get the chance to see Marla at least.

I can confirm that the entire original cast is NOT transferring. There are a couple wild cards this time around that will turn the needle just a tad bit for some sales.

I get their strategy, but is it assured that Titanique would be considered a new musical for Tony noms? Could this be deemed a "classic" and go into the best revival category? Does having more or less of the original cast involved make the committee lean one way or another? Just a thought, no hate please.
