Anything Goes

May 15, 2022 — 7:48:30 PM

Looking forward to reading the comments both on how well people think the filming caught the dynamics of the show and also how Sutton compares to the board members memories of her Broadway run a decade before .

Someone took and leaked nude photos at Take Me Out

May 12, 2022 — 3:22:03 PM

TaffyDavenport said: "Especially since the production seems to be doing the bare minimum in getting the pics and footage taken down from Twitter. Put out a press release, install a camera, raise prices, and watch the shows sell out seems to be the strategy."The story has been up now for some time in the UK daily mail website which has the pixelated picture from Twitter featuring three times in its story , (pixelation goes from waist to below knee so that alone will get some comments!)They als...

Pamela Anderson To Make Broadway Debut In CHICAGO

Apr 15, 2022 — 9:25:23 AM

Off tangent but seeing some of the YouTube curtain call bows show a massive Chicago logo hangs in the background now. Has that always there in the Broadway show or a recent revamp when it reopened. Not seen it before in earlier clips and it's not in the UK version as far as know. (Seeing the current UK tour next week so will if any changes, that has its own stunt casting furore going on for planned mamma Morton role in a few weeks)Chicago gets a lot of knocks mainly for running so long but on...

Tim Rice Teases CHESS Broadway Revival

Jan 12, 2022 — 5:28:35 PM

The Scorpion said: "I can only pray the assembled team that Rice has hinted at does not include Laurence Connor. When I saw his name attached to the most recent London revival (in fact the only West End revival to date), I didn't set my expectations high...andstillI was disappointed, if not bewildered, by the mess that was presented on stage. It was the only time I'd seen the show in the theatre (as opposed to just listening to the concept album) and rather than come up with something that co...

Company Previews Thread

Dec 13, 2021 — 6:41:47 PM

The UK production had a small range and was quite busy stall post show from what I remember. The base ball cap with the wording does anyone still wear a hat was a popular buy.T shirts, mugs, posters, I think there was only the one normal show program . Also a grey hoodie with the another 100 people written on the back.

Should a “Covid passport“ be required to see a Broadway show?

Apr 5, 2021 — 8:27:24 PM

When the small window opened in the UK for socially distanced, mask wearing, timed arrival, one way systems etc shows to restart while the Les mis concert show and Six seemed to sell a lot of the other shows put on in London and regional productions were putting out offers and discounts indicating that the expected demand after six months of lockdown wasn't there or people didn't want to go while all the regulation was in place.

Sunset Boulevard Curve Theatre UK Stream Film

Jan 5, 2021 — 4:29:49 PM

Apologies for highlighting another theatre stream not accessible to North America or Canada but some on the board maybe be able to view and the you tube links at the bottom should allow all to see some of the style of this highly praised performance of Sunset BoulevardThe Curve theatre had planned a dressed concert live performance run in the round and had adjusted their theatre to separate seating groups, one ways paths etc. when the UK tiers/lockdown shut the show down – They had the superb...

Rent - Hope Mill Theatre UK

Dec 18, 2020 — 1:54:53 PM

Rent might not be the immediate choice as a feel good musical during covid lockdown times but fortunately for us in the UK for the last month we have had the recording of the smaller scale but not in ambition Hope Mill theatre production of Rent available Friday/Saturday/Sunday evenings as a streaming show – last showings this weekend. While Rent itself has a very strong following in the UK the stage production had limited runs and tours and the 20th anniversary brought a very vocally strong b...

THE INHERITANCE to play the Barrymore this fall; Sept previews/Nov. opening

Aug 19, 2019 — 4:04:18 PM

Ok now you know you have most of the knockout cast we had in UK in the West End you need to book - trying to keep any spoilers out of seating recommendations - but don't read if you want everything to be a surprise - have no worry this play holds a lot.The Barrymore holds 1032 against the 900ish the Noel coward did - looks like Barrymore has only two levels while Noel had four. Presuming the Barrymore is a bit wider so this should help visuals on the side if you have seen any pictures of the ...

Full Cast Set For THE INHERITANCE On Broadway

Aug 16, 2019 — 12:32:30 PM

As both parts are over three hours it's worth checking seats and possibly paying bit extra to secure comfortable seat In London they did do a good offer if you booked both parts and dynamic pricing kicked in a lot. Is it open ended at present or listed as limited run. In London start and final weeks were heavily booked but mid term there were lots of offers.

Full Cast Set For THE INHERITANCE On Broadway

Aug 16, 2019 — 12:02:46 PM

Congratulations You have Samuel H Levine in the cast. Easily the glue which held this show together with his stunning performance and glad he gets to shine on Broadway. Looking forward to reading reactions to this play and how a different theatre going crowd react to it and to see if changes have been made. Certainly should probably get more discussion and challenges than it did in UK. A thought provoking show

Can an 11 year old see the show Hamilton alone?

Jan 14, 2019 — 4:58:57 PM

Interesting the UK delfont mackintosh theatre site which owns the theatre Hamilton is playing at along with several others state clearly on their booking page for Hamilton and other shows that children 16 and under must be seated next to Their accompanying adult and that unchaperoned children maybe refused entry.

THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG on Broadway This Spring

Nov 14, 2016 — 6:28:46 PM

First response is thats €25 is still over priced for this show but do know there were people in tears of laugher from the moment the show started and its has now spawned peter pan goes wrong and the bank robbery goes wrong spin offs so a lot of people do like this brandWill be interesting how "original" people think this show is - if you are board you can count how many times they flog the same joke - the London productions feature in quite small theatres with 490 seats for Play and 590 for B...

Miss Saigon Dates and Cast?

Oct 21, 2016 — 6:22:35 PM

So sorry about this! he is certainly not a west end name or even name in the UK and they would have struggled to find a review of the London show which praised him or didnt list him as the weakest link. Will be interesting reading what the Broadway reviewers say even if they are not meant to be as powerful as before. The filmed show was very much retooled and directed and made a far stronger performance than seeing it live and made his role passable - honestly wait until he goes and see it wit...

Killian donnelly to Broadway kinky boots

Oct 21, 2016 — 6:10:16 PM

He certainly has been having a great run in the UK opening in The Commitments, Memphis and then Kinky Boots and getting great reviews and a growing fan base for all three and one the few recognizable names on the West end who have got there via talent and working their way up rather than being put in the role due to their xfactor - UK got talent - any reality show "fame" - Oh Brexit vote was a bit more about us being independently governed rather than being told what to do by faceless unelect...

MISS SAIGON IN THE CINEMA

Oct 16, 2016 — 5:59:15 PM

Finally got this playing all day in the UK - in the end from the 18.30 original showing it expanded in some places to 11am and 2.30 as well so you could have had a whole day of it.As most posters have said the close ups especially at the start stop you getting the traditional theatre view but this is certainly a very adapted filming of the staging with a lot added just for the film adding depth which was not there int he stage version - its certainly not a stage filmed recording of the show i...

MISS SAIGON IN THE CINEMA

Sep 23, 2016 — 6:05:53 PM

Ok was not expecting the outflow of joy and praise for the show so sounds like they have done a good job with the filming and captured some of the power of the show which was missing when I saw it in London. Not read any comments about about accents but bar the engineer the board seem to agree the cast is nowhere as strong as the originals or previous touring casts The missing curtain call seems odd (if I read correctly) as this was very drawn out affair and ended with them grandstanding for ...

MISS SAIGON IN THE CINEMA

Sep 22, 2016 — 1:45:44 PM

Not sure why the UK has to wait until the 16th of Oct for the cinema showing but will be interesting to see what you all think of the revamp and especially the new cast - certainly more of a risk for them prior to the Broadway return if people dont like the new staging.Enjoy the movie and lookout for the nod to book of mormon
