2026 Tony Awards Performance Predictions (or What Songs They Should and Will Perform)

Sutton Ross said: "Also re the 7 minute opening, Bryce is doing a take over of The Wing IG account today and teased a secret involvement at the Tony awards where he had a rehearsal today and I saw one ensemble member post a pic on their IG stories outside Radio City today so we may get a tiny bit of Chess."

I love everything about that. I love Bryce and his character in Chess, and I love that they've featured his songs on a few talk shows. Such a

That was me and it was a guess on my behalf as Lea was involved in at least one workshop of this mus

An edited version of Endgame with the whole Chess cast involved would have been so much more interesting  and a moment than whatever Rocky Horror will do.

Still odd the grosses only started falling of after her vacation and the show announcing her departure though.
"

Did they, though? Looks like a very steady, almost linear downward trajectory to me since all the way back last year. They very obviously plummeted when Lea was out on vacation, but her departure announcement really doesn't stand out as a turning point to me.

"

Yes it does. The announcement of her departure was on 21st March. Look at the decline since then.

Chess was never going to stay at the heady heights of$2M a week and those early grosses were a shock to everyone. I always expected it to start at about $1.2- $1.3M a week, just because i knew as a long term Chess fan it was never going to befor everyone, and that is where it had settled into after the initial unexpected high numbers.

If they could have stayed there theywould have been fine which is why they went ahead and extended with JoJo.

They clearly didn't expect the drop that happened after and that drop began the week after they announced Lea was leaving and never recovered.
"

Maybe they went down once her limited fan base had seen the show. I saw it and while she sang the hell out of it, her acting, even while singing was sub par."

I disagree about her acting and her fan base isnt that limited but you can always count on people wanting to drag Lea.

Just because Chess doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it can't appeal to other people. some of us have been Chess fans for decades.. Ever heard of to each their own?

She has no dreams or ambitions of any import that we know of, and her character just bounces back and forth between two men who are emotionally unavailable. Am I crazyto think that this could have road potential? An 80s rock show that can advertise "from the creators of MAMMA MIA and THE LION KING" could mean something to local markets and subscriptions. Especially if they throw a C-level pop star or someone from The Voice in there to help with press in lo

Considering the original production ran for roughly a third of this production, they set out to do what they could and they did.

I am actually really vexed though because I thought Jojo was going to make a great Florence. The outlook must’ve been grim, but not so bad that it would fold once Lea left. Granted, I could imagine that the lack of awards buzz and the fact that b

As I said a week or so back the first week after the announcement was made that Lea was leaving the box office started to drop and its never recovered.

I had multiple people tell me they saw posts on Facebook after the announcement saying it was sad Lea had LEFT,  not leaving in June,  gone in March. Once that sort of narrative gets out on regular people land they switch off.

I think announcing her departure three months out was a mistake.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/17/26

Noticing Chess hasn't recovered from its slide since March 22nd despite everyone in and the Tony nominations  with capacity at 73% and box office under $1M. I've had a bit of a theory forming about that for a couple of weeks.

Chess hasn't been over 90% capacity or $1.3M since week ending 22nd March.  they announced Lea was leaving 20th March.

A friend was telling me a few weeks ago they saw a couple of people on Facebook,  very much reg

Except Hannah has made it very clear she's more interested in doing plays than musicals going forward.  She's said on multiple occasions that she actually doesn't love singing and Maria doesn't seem the sort of role she'd go for given all that she's said in her interviews I've read and watc

Re Chess, Lea was out four performances this week due to laryngitis and bronchitis hence why it went down this week.

As for Every Brilliant Thing, any guesses how the box office numbers will go with Mariska Hargitay when Dan leaves? I know she has a big TV following ( my niece is a big SVU fan) but can she sustain those numbers?

Broadway's Most Bankable Star?

Chess isundoubtedly helped a lot by Lea being in it, but after 6 months its starting to flag a bit and there clearly aren't the same number of people willing to see her in something less obvious.

Just in Time is the first time Jonathan has shown that he can bring box office to a show as Merrily was mostly about Dan.

Lea rescued FG and made it a hit and Chess only got to open because of her and the fact that it opened big and

Telecharge has Lea marked out today and tomorrow so she's clearly sick and I saw a rumour Lea has bronchitis which makes sense with the longer absence and her having been off for the Saturday matinee and being said to be struggling on Sunday.
