Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/31/26

Absolutely. The MET is struggling big time. "Innocence" a great opera was giving away tickets for all of its performances as was "Frida and Diego."  Surprisingly, Oneguin with Grigorian did not even sell out one performance.  Next year, it will be even worse (showing Turandot, Boheme and Carmen, almost non stop).  As it is happening with Broadway, the prices are way too expensive for regular people.

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Reviews

Joe Mantello’s direction gets a lot of praise, although Helen Shaw says his choices leave no question about Willy’s fate from the start, which she sees as a flaw - or at least a tradeoff- in an otherwise positive review.

The title of the play is "Death of a Salesman"

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Previews

I pray that this production is presentedas a satellite broadcast, or filmed as some NT presentations are. Theworld should have a chance to see it. The world should always have a chance to see it.

"

Absolutely.  I think it is a masterpiece on all fronts.  Also, the score is used so precisely to accentuate some moments creating an effect that I have rarely experienced in a theatre.  I need a recording from Caroline Shaw right away

Broadway's Best Kept Secrets 12/3 - Titanique? Fear of 13?

Who is rumored to be Willy Loman in London? I am guessing we are talking about the Frecknall/Mescal NT upcoming production...

TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Previews

I saw it on Friday. I do not remember the exact line but I think it is pretty clear that the "spoiler" above happened.

TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Previews

There was no first performance gift. Even the most extreme seats should be perfectly okay, everything is front and center.

Sam Tutty is a star. The first act is great, the second not so much. This is the kind of musical that would have been a long running success off Broadway (too bad it does not exist anymore). Very clever staging.

TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Previews

I did not see any instagrammable photo area.  Maybe downstairs?

OEDIPUS Previews

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the majority.  I have to agree that the sound is awful. I was sitting front mezz and I had trouble hearing what was being said. I had read Icke's adaptation so I was not lost.  Also, there are several scenes that take place on a couch placed on the  right of the stage; thus I would recommend sitting on the left.  Now, many spoilers.....stop reading.

Ariana DeBose to lead THE BAKER'S WIFE at Classic Stage Company

I was there last night. There were some seats empty.

I would agree with the general consensus that it is a charming, lovely evening of a very slight musical. The townspeople are adorable and DeBose and Bakula are very good.  Bakula is still way too attractive for the plot to make sense.

I think it is worth it just to hear Judy Kuhn and see what Sally Murphy is capable of doing with a small role. Both display a masterclass in musical theatre acting.

LIBERATION Reviews

I have seen both Giant and Liberation.  I think Liberation is a better play.

WAITING FOR GODOT 2025 Reviews

I attended last evening's performance. I thought it has vastly improved from the last week of previews when I last saw it. Both four actors were perfect. Even Keanu I thought was superb. Truly heartbreaking.  The Pozzo/Lucky relationship was more disturbing than I remembered.  Just for the sound and lighting, this production is worth it.  I wish they filmed it. Strange to see such an existential play on Broadway packed to the rafters (I know why, but still....)

A ver

RAGTIME 2025 Reviews

I was also there yesterday (matinee). Not a weak link in the cast. Is it too long? Yes, but it is magnificent.  I also liked Caissie Levy more than I did at CC. She is superb.  But the whole cast....fantastic.

CHESS Previews

Yesterday and today, the show ran almost 2:45. You will have enough  time.

Just seen it again.  A few things.

Yesterday performance was much better vocally from Christopher. Today he seemed cautious. It is too bad that there is no stop/button after Endgame. He deserves a big ovation and he does not get it.

The creatives will burn in Hell by cutting up "You and I." It is divided into two parts. The first part during the "No Deal" se

BTW, Is the Imperial the most chaotic theatre on Broadway?

CHESS Previews

Just saw it. And I am seeing it tomorrow again. Big fan of the original Chess. I saw it three times in London. I still listen to the original recording often. Never saw the original Broadway production but I have seen most of the NYC concerts and the Kennedy Center production. The first act is good and the second one is a mess and long. Dramatically inept.

Very mixed bag. I did not like Lea Michele at all. There are perfect notes but no character. Her "Someone Else'

WAITING FOR GODOT 2025 Previews

I am seeing it later in the run.  But, I believe the comment about outrageous pricing pushing out the true fans is spot on. If you look at ATC, there was almost no discussion on Othello, Good Night and now not a word about Godot, sadly. If prices were affordable there would be plenty of comments.  I think Godot took a while to sell out. I remember watching how well it was selling and I thought I had made a mistake and that prices may lower later on.  Glad I bought when I did. &

BROADWAY DISCOUNTS

Any Discount Code for "Oedipus" at Studio 54?  I was about to purchase a couple of tix but it is clearly not selling too well so I decided to check this thread.

Jamie Lloyd-helmed EVITA revival to play the London Palladium in 2025

I am afraid that prices will hit a new records. I am expecting to pay $500 for a back mezzanine seat.

Jamie Lloyd-helmed EVITA revival to play the London Palladium in 2025

I do not think you can compare both productions.  Evita, a more popular musical, has reached a level of publicity this summer that few productions achieve. Even people who are not into musicals are hearing things.  If or when it comes to Broadway, I am expecting very high prices.  There is a lot of buzz for this production.

On that other board they are talking about February 2026.... I am sure Lea Michele is not thrilled to hear such rumors.
