DEATH BECOMES HER - Replacement Cast?
 Feb 23 2026, 11:36:51 AM

I’m a big fan of "Death Becomes Her" and absolutely loved what Megan Hilty did. Her performance was indelible. When Betsy Wolfe was cast, I was genuinely excited because I've always found her to be a really wonderful performer with great instincts.

Megan steamrolled through the show. Betsy approaches it with more restraint. She’s very good, but where Megan created a truly big, fully lived-in character, Betsy’s Madeline feels a bit more medium-sized. (For

CHESS (2025 Broadway Revival) Reviews
 Feb 9 2026, 02:11:17 PM

The $58 seats are kind of a steal. CHESS is staged almost entirely down center, so even if you’re way off to the side, you’ll still catch basically everything. Truly, you’re not missing much at all. Grab them while you can!

Break legs to Betsy Wolfe tonight on her debut as Madeline! I can’t wait to see what she does with the role.

If anyone’s there tonight, please report back!

I’m about 99% sure Michelle Williams and Chris Sieber were both sick for Megan and Jennifer's last show together.

I’m fairly certain that once Megan returned from medical leave, attendance across the cast was pretty consistent, aside from Megan’s scheduled Tuesday nights off.

As others have mentioned, the holiday performance schedule was especially punishing (six shows in three days). If I’m remembering correctly, both Megan and Jennifer each sat out three performances that week, though I’m happy to be corrected if I have that wrong.

Just in Time - Matt Morrison?
 Dec 31 2025, 01:24:32 PM

I think Matthew Morrison is unquestionably talented, but at times his performances can feel a bit overeager, which can be uncomfortable to watch. I felt this during the Tony Awards "Hairspray" number, where it came across as just a little too much and again in his later Tony performance when "Glee" was at its peak. If he can rein in that impulse and let the material breathe, he could be quite effective in "Just in Time."

"From a PR standpoint, both Morrison and Weinstein handled the Finding Neverland mess pretty badly."

What was the "Finding Neverland" mess -- and what did Matthew Morrison do to handle that mess badly? I can't recall.

SPELLING BEE Last Night - Mid-Show Fire Drill at New World Stages
 Nov 23 2025, 01:24:19 PM

P.S. While I was watching the show, I was struck by how sharp Lili Cooper’s comedic timing is. Would she make a great Helen Sharp replacement in DEATH BECOMES HER?

SPELLING BEE Last Night - Mid-Show Fire Drill at New World Stages
 Nov 23 2025, 01:21:15 PM

Last night at SPELLING BEE, about twenty minutes before the show was supposed to end, a fire alarm went off in the theatre. It actually happened during a moment in the show when a “school fire alarm” could have made sense, so at first no one thought it was real. After about a minute it stopped. Then another minute later, the voice of the stage manager came over the loudspeaker asking the actors to leave the stage and the audience to evacuate the theatre.

Everyone stayed

DEATH BECOMES HER - Replacement Cast?

Does anyone have any intel on whether Jennifer Simard is staying with the production beyond Megan Hilty’s exit date?

Also, any (realistic) rumors on who might replace Jennifer when she leaves the show?

Laura Osnes Didn’t Get the Covid Shot. It Ended Her Broadway Career
 Nov 19 2025, 04:30:27 PM

For me, the details of her Guild Hall firing have gotten a bit muddled over the years. I’m not dismissing the seriousness of any of it -- but I do have another, separate question about Laura:

I’ve heard rumblings that she and her husband belonged to a New York City church with openly anti-LGBTQIA+ views. Can anyone confirm whether that’s accurate?

If that’s true, to me personally, that feels like a far bigger concern -- and honestly more of a canc

Did my simple question truly call for that kind of reply? Jeez.

"Also the only cautionary tale directed (and collaborated with writer) seemed to be at the end with the destruction of the versailles set"

I left at intermission, so now I’m intrigued by the comment above. Does the set really get destroyed at the end -- and if so, is it a big technical showstopper? I’m genuinely curious.

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES Reviews

I went to QUEEN OF VERSAILLES last night thanks to a Lucky Seat win (for the record: Mezz Row O, Seat 16, which was perfectly fine). In all my years of going to the theatre, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve left at intermission and last night became one of them.

For me, there was nothing about the show to enjoy. Kristin Chenoweth is certainly giving it her all, but she is not doing anything we haven't seen her do before. I found the characters unlikable ac

BAT BOY : The Musical at NYCC Encores!
 Nov 1 2025, 05:21:34 PM

I saw BAT BOY this afternoon, and as someone who’s loved the original for years, I’m happy to report this version doesn’t disappoint. (Hearing the title song live honestly gave me goosebumps, as did "Three Bedroom House" and "Comfort and Joy.") I’m not totally sure the new songs make the show better, but they definitely don’t hurt it either.

Kerry Butler is as good as she’s ever been and Taylor Trensch completely steals the show.

HEATHERS and Understudies
 Oct 20 2025, 01:07:52 PM

You know, I’ve only been reading this board for about a year and posting for even less and honestly, the rudeness that sometimes shows up here can be pretty frustrating.

That said, I just wanted to thank everyone who chimed in on my theater question. I got some really smart, thoughtful and kind responses that reminded me why I stick around.

We could all take a cue from those folks. Seriously, thanks everyone.

If understudies.org is to be believed, Off-Broadway’s HEATHERS always has multiple understudies going on. Is the show just that hard to perform? It’s wild how often people seem to be out. What’s going on over there?

BROADWAY VANITY PROJECTS
 Sep 30 2025, 04:42:30 PM

In the last two seasons we have seen big vanity projects on Broadway, most recently from Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. One flopped and the other is still TBD.

It got me wondering: which vanity projects have actually worked and even become hits? Would something like "Just in Time" with Jonathan Groff count, since it was developed around his talents and he had a hand in shaping it?

More broadly, do vanity projects ever truly work? Often the star is both producer an

Not on television on another network or streaming service. It's coming to Broadway. I know someone working on the production.
