I hate to say so, but good riddance. Who's dumb enough to keep giving Wildhorn money to stage these crapfests?
And maybe now the apologists will quit claiming that the show is "doing great" and "audiences are loving it".
Awww...I was sort of hoping to catch it, despite the negativity towards it.
I wonder if Janet Dacal will play the final performances, as I believe her understudy was scheduled to go on this weekend.
^ Me too. Although I do have to wonder if Wildhorn can ever learn from his mistakes. I mean after three out of town try outs, one would think he would have something more to show for it.
I thought the show would at least try to pull through the summer.
No matter the quality of the show, it's always sad to see a piece of Broadway die.
Well, that went well.
You can't put the blame for this on Wildhorn. It's the book to this show that's awful, not the music.
I wonder if the fact that Disney is planning an Alice musical would have anything do put this in motion.

Bit of awkward timing with the talkbacks over the next 3 days. Not surprising news though, the reviews were rough which was always going to make it hard, though I'm a tad surprised it's closing this soon.
I was really looking forward to seeing it when I got home from school..3 days too late I guess :/
"I wonder if the fact that Disney is planning an Alice musical would have anything do put this in motion."
Or the fact it was critically derided, ignored by all the award committees, and hasn't been doing terribly well, and probably has a small advance.

The music is equally terrible.
Ive heard much much worse.

It wasn't doing terribly gross-wise. Sure the reviews tore it to pieces but that really didn't show that much in the long run. They had a pretty healthy attendance rate. It probably could've lasted a little bit longer.
$511,446 this past week is not nearly an adequate enough gross to sustain the show at that theatre. And last week wasn't much better.

You say this, but I would be amazed if the show has been running to a profit at all, if they are losing money on a weekly basis (as I expect) they are better off cutting their loses and ditching it now... other shows may not have such good attendance rate, but that is compensated for in lower running costs!!
I actually really liked this show, and am upset that it is closing so soon. Janet's final performance will be this Thursday, so it's gonna be an emotional week for everyone at the theater, and Morgan James will be playing the final weekend.

The show never made a profit.
Sad for the fact that we were planning to take a group of 35 students, most of whom it was their first Broadway show to it on the 25th.
I was expecting it to close soon, but not with a less than one week notice. That surprises me a little. I expected it to close Tony Sunday.

This really saddens me.
I know that many found it to be a bore, but I really had a fun time and found the show to have a ton of heart.
I'll actually miss this one.
I'm actually a fan of the music, and I think the show has some great songs. It could have been a better show in terms of the book, but it is what it is. I was hoping to see this during the summer, so I'm sad to see t go. I wonder if the national tour will ever actually happen.
So what's next for the Marquis?
