With George Clooney and Denzel Washington really bringing in the crowds and ticket prices, what are some "Hollywood" names that you'd like to see on Broadway for "event" shows.
Personally, I'd like to see Julia Roberts return as well as Timothee Chalamet, Tom Hanks, Helen Mirren, Emma Thompson, Ian McKellan (in a Shakespeare transfer) or debuts of Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston, Ryan Reynolds, Leonardo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep.
I feel Mirren, Thompson, McKellen, Streep would really best serve in a classic play (Shakespeare...). I feel Julia was ill served with Three Days Rain.
My #1 is Julia. And funny enough, you also mentioned my #2, Sandra Bullock.
I was also recently watching an interview with Kate Winslet where she talked about the fact she has a Grammy and i thought maybe she’ll get the urge to EGOT and do a play.

I don't know what shape her singing voice is in nowadays but I'd love to see Anne Hathaway in some sort of musical (I think she's only ever done Carnival?)
Anne Hathway for sure. I still think about her performance in Twelfth Night over a decade later. It’s really surprising to me she hasn’t done more theater since—she seemed like she was having a blast.
Waiting for two, but one is more likely than the other. Jonathan Bailey is fantastic on stage and I really hope Broadway gets to see it. Aside from his looks, the man can really act.
The other is Gaga. She’s a theater kid at heart and has so much incredible potential, but she’s obviously busy.
Would love to see Meryl Streep and Martin Short star in a play!

I’m surprised she has not done much theatre, even in the UK. She’s this kind of actress that I thought would do tons of theatre works

I know her last theatrical outing was a little rocky but I want to see Lindsay Lohan in a Noel Coward play.
Really this is perhaps a unique opinion but I want to see any actor onstage who would like to be onstage. They might not always be good but one can’t know that until they do it. I think sadly the ecosystem has changed so that people don’t have as much time to get stage experience at lower levels with less pressure and are instead thrust right into the deep end. It’s still interesting to watch.

I'd like to see Jacob Elordi take on a meaty role in a play. And while it would probably never happen, Juliette Binoche.

I would LOVE to see Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the stage.
I honestly want someone who has some stage credentials to do a show. Some of the movie stars I’ve seen on stage lately (Robert Downey Jr, Steve Carell, John David Washington) just did not meet the moment and, in the case of RDJ, seemed to coast on the fact he was RDJ to get through the show.
Honestly, give me an Odd Couple/Sunshine Boys repertory revival with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart
Streep has 5 (I think) Bway credits to her name, so hardly a debut. (Not since the 70s, but still.)
Would love to see her, Jonathan Bailey, Pedro Pascal but this recent rash satisfied many wishes (Denzel, Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal - obviously the latter two were off Bway, but that makes no difference to me.)
I’m also hoping Nicole Kidman returns to the stage sometime soon. I’m still sad I missed her last show on the West End.
I also recently watched an interview with Tom Hardy where he talked about working on stage and thought how awesome it would be to see him live, too.

Honestly, seeing celebrities in off Broadway performances has actually made up some of my best experiences at the theatre. Something about those performances has always felt freer and more raw - it allows them to take chances and swings they may not otherwise have a chance to do and really make use of their craft.
I’ll use Conrad Ricamora for example (not the biggest star but bear with me). He’s been primarily known his dramatic roles on television and theatre, or as the “straight man” in a comedy. When Oh Mary came around, I got to see a side of him that was totally different - unhinged, hilarious, and free of constraints or expectations.
Unfortunately I missed Good People and I would gladly pay $ to see Frances McDormand in anything.

Recently binged Breaking Bad again and finally watched Fargo (the TV show) for the first time. Would love to see Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst on stage. Together or otherwise.
Nicole Kidman and Alfre Woodard.
Lindsay Lohan in Streetcar. Not even joking.

At the height of Veep/30 Rock I wanted a Plaza Suite revival with her and Alec Baldwin

Tilda Swinton Tilda Swinton Tilda Swinton Tilda Swinton Tilda Swinton Tilda Swinton and, oh, to mix it up, how about TILDA SWINTON?
Alanna Ubach
Andrew Scott
Stephen Dorff--wonderful actor, has had the worst luck in films.
Kate Hudson--The female Dorff
Mo'Nique
Just the other day I was thinking what a great King Lear Mel Gibson would have made but...that'll never happen.
Isabelle Adjani
Jacki Weaver
Actors I would like to see come back to Broadway: Ellen Barkin, Kristin Scott Thomas, Nicole Kidman, Michelle Williams, Helen Mirren, Ralph Fiennes, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Andrew Scott, Jane Fonda
I would love to see Octavia Spencer on Broadway, especially in a comedy! I wouldn't be opposed to Kate Hudson or Emily Blunt in a musical. Florence Pugh can sing too, and I think the right vehicle could really show her range. Greta Lee could really make a splash. Joaquin Phoenix, depending on the mode. (I'd hope more HER and CMON CMON than JOKER.)
Television star, but I also can't wait to see if Sheryl Lee Ralph would like to return to Broadway after her run on ABBOTT ELEMENTARY, with a broader audience and an Emmy award.
In general, I would just like to see more of these celebrities in original work. Denzel's gonna sell tickets, why not star in a new play and give a playwright some shine as opposed to Shakespeare. Same with Clooney - a stage version of a film he directed is fine, but if Clooney starred in something from an exciting new voice, it would have been even more of an event!
I think I read somewhere that Tilda Swinton hates theatre and absolutely refuses to do it, unfortunately.
