#2EVITA -- Are the 3 Leads Leaving?
Posted: 11/7/12 at 1:29pmI remember hearing from a cast member at the Broadway Flea Marker that Ricky would be leaving in January.

Posted: 11/7/12 at 1:39pmI still want to see Elena. Wasn't thrilled with the other girl.

Posted: 11/7/12 at 2:12pmElena's performance is extraordinary. It's all about the acting with her. I could not take my eyes off of her from the moment she stepped on stage.

"Elena's performance is extraordinary. It's all about the acting with her."
Too bad for the audiences that its an iconic musical with songs that are painful if not sung correctly.

Posted: 11/7/12 at 3:44pmElena's moot. When Ricky goes, so goes the show. It's still one of the only shows (really only) where Premium Seating can and does sell out before regular priced seats. Unless they can find someone with his drawing power, it's gone.

The show was just dull. dull dull.
No actors fault. Direction, Pacing.
I thought it would never end.
Ricky was bland. Directed that way.
Wish he sang vida loca.
Elena was fine.
Juan Peron stole the show??? When does that happen?
Dull. I napped.

^ Sounds like Patti's review of the show! Minus wishing he'd sing "Livin' La Vida Loca" (I gave up on the show when they came out with the Livin' Evita Loca shirt)
I remember his concert in 1999 at MSG when they gave out free samples of the Emporio Armani fragrance.

Shall we begin casting it now?
If Elena leaves can we finally give Leslie Kritzer her chance to shine in it.
And maybe Antonio Banderes can come in and do Che.

Posted: 11/7/12 at 5:50pmI have a feeling Martin will extend, the show can't survive without him(or another star). I also wouldn't be surprised if he reduces his schedule to just 6 shows a week.

McArdle has never been considered for Eva Peron in this production. And if Patti has seen the show, no one backstage was informed.

not 100% sure on the accuracy of this, but heard this from an cast member:
Ricky was originally under a one year contract, with a condition in which if something happened, the contract would be extended for a full 3 years. Whatever this thing was eventually did happen, and his contract is now for the full 3 years, non negotiable.
Again, just heard this from the cast member, but cannot say how accurate this is..

Posted: 11/7/12 at 7:02pmSorry what? THREE YEARS?
#18EVITA -- Are the 3 Leads Leaving?
Posted: 11/7/12 at 7:03pmI do not believe that information to be accurate at all in any way whatsoever to any degree.

Apparently, yes. I suppose they assumed the show would run only long enough to not out-run 3 years, which would safely keep him there for no matter how long it is open. But again, who knows. I don't know who gave them that information.
Personally, I thought his performance was rather flat about 3 weeks ago, so I am not too thrilled if this is true.

Martin did renegotiate his contract, and he signed on for a longer run in exchange for having Monday nights off. It isn't my place to post the details, but it is safe to say that no one is expecting to be employed for the next three years.

Posted: 11/7/12 at 8:20pmDoes anyone know if the national tour of this production is still on? I remember that they announced around the time of the Tony awards that the tour would launch fall of 2013 in Rhode island, but I haven't heard anything since then.

Shakira for EVA! Why not? The show is already completely eff'd up.
"Dododododododododododon't crrrrrrryyyyyy fofofofofofo meeeee Argentina!"
I'd love an EVA with a bare midriff.

The show will close...they've run out of Argentinian snoritas willing to be in it. And, nowadays, everything MUST be real, real, real-istic-cal!!!!
Or it's a big FAT lie!!!!!!!!!! ROFLMAO.
Plus, today's portrayal as Mama Teresa is just bland. It will close in a jiffy, as long as they resist portraying her as the harlot...as written!!!
Eva!Harlot was so charming. A real powerful **** in a time when the wealthiest woman couldn't buy herself the right to vote! Only a bitch like Eva could have changed the rules. Make Eva fun again!!!
