WILD ROSE musical at NYTW

John Tiffany (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Black Watch) the Tony- and Olivier Award-winning director, has revealed to Deadline that his stage adaptation of the 2018 feature Wild Rose — a movie that helped propel recent Oscar winner Jessie Buckley’s early career — is to make its U.S. premiere Off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop for its fall-winter season.

I won't lie -- I get this confused with all the other musicals with a similar title... WILD ROSE, WILD ABOUT YOU, WILD, and another I'm forgetting.

Madeline Brewer will lead Wild Rose. I loved her in Becky Shaw.

John Tiffany is a director, not a playwright. The playwright you are thinking of is Jack Thorne. He is a frequent collaborator with Tiffany, but he did not write this.

Also, the show began in Edinburgh.

I'm curious about the reasons behind not starting previews until the week of Thanksgiving? Right now it is only scheduled through January 10. Do they figure if it does well then that lets them extend through January when there are fewer shows to compete with for attention? It is a pretty small theatre so doesn't take much to sell out. It's such a pain for people traveling to choose the rights dates to visit the city, when you will be able to see the most. Some things close before Thanksgiving & others don't open until after. In my next life I want to be a multi-millionaire.

Wait....Madeline AND Mare, and directed by John Tiffany (Once)? Holy SH*T I am there.
