Grrr. I wish Cerveris had a better chance.

Sorry I forgot to attach the link!
I am suprised with the majority voting for Jersey Boys and JLY
Honey,
You are surprised at the predictions of JLY?
JLY has one every award so far.
1. The Outer Critic Circle Award
2. The Drama Desk Award
So, it looks pretty good that he will take a Tony.
I would bet money on it that he wins.
I love all three performers:
1. John
2. MC
3. Bob Martin
But, it is John's year. I think he will take it.
And I will do a dance of joy. As I think he deserves it!

I'm still pulling for DROWSY!!
Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical
Bernardo: Christian Hoff, Jersey Boys
Cote/ Feldman: Jim Dale, The Threepenny Opera
Denton: Dale
McNulty: Dale
O'Neil: Dale
Pacheco: Brandon Victor Dixon, The Color Purple
Robertson: Dale
Sheehan: Dale
Sheward: Dale
Simonson: Dale
Wontorek: Dale
Verdict: 82% Jim Dale, The Threepenny Opera; 9% Brandon Victor Dixon, The Color Purple; 9% Christian Hoff, Jersey Boys
I'm sorry. Are they serious?

I'm really rooting for Drowsy for Best Musical. It'd be great for an ORIGINAL show to win. First a movical, I don't want a jukebox one to win. Drowsy is fun, with new music, new ideas, and a new approach to theatre.
I think Dale will win. I would rather Hoff win.
I loved Brandon's performance in The Color Purple.
I don't think he has a chance, but he was fantastic with Felicia.
Personally, I still think Daniel Reichard was robbed and I am upset he was not nominated.

I didn't really point out what I disagreed with, I suck at that. Dale is sort of a given at this point. I just think it's odd that they all pointed everyone out BUT Manoel. I haven't even heard much about the nominee from TCP. Surprising is all.
wtf, where is Mano in featured actor?
So Best Book and Music and lyrics but not Best Musical
That makes no sense to me.
But it has happened before.
i've said this before and i'll say it again...at least i'm prepared for the huge letdown this Sunday.
Mano is sitting in his seat clapping for the person who wins in his catagory.
I.m not counting Cerveris out WIT.
MC is amazing. He really is one of the most talented men in Broadway history. I loved him in every show I have seen him in.
His voice is stellar and his acting is even better.
But, John has 27 songs that he sings in Jersey Boys. He is the new kid on the block. He struggled for years and made it big this year. He is a success story.
I really hope he wins. He is a hero for everyone who ever dreamed of making it. Cerveris has already made it and is very loved. He has also won many awards.
I hope John wins for everyone who has ever dreamed.
I'm all for Dreams coming thru
but that is not a reason to win Best Actor.
MC's material is much stronger.
I haven't seen JLY's performance, so I can't really judge him...but. Yes, everyone loves a success story, but in my opinion, what it all should come down to is whose performance is better. So what if someone has already won an award? So what if someone has struggled to get where they were? In the end it shouldn't matter what they have/haven't received during their career. Despite the fact that that seems to play into it. It just doesn't seem right to me.
Edit for clarification: I wasn't specifically aiming anything in my post (other than the first sentence) towards one person, or even category, in particular. Just...stating.

I disagree that Cerveris's part is more demanding than John Lloyd Young's. SWEENEY is a difficult score, but I can't even fathom singing what JLY has to in JERSEY BOYS.
and higher singing , again is not a reason to win this award.
It's not about higher singing - it's about "difficult singing," if you are going to say the performer who wins should be the one in the most demanding role. I don't personally believe that analogy, or the belief that the actor with the "best material" should win --- but if we are talking about score, I do believe that JLY's music is more demanding than Cerveris's. For one thing there is twice as much of it.

Agreed, Corine! Daniel Reichard was robbed. Since he wasn't nominated, I hope Christian Hoff takes home the prize. As for Jim Dale, I have been a fan of his for as long as I can remember. That said, I have not met a single person who really enjoyed Three Penny. Do you think Dale just got nominated because of his broadway clout?
Jim Dale got a nomination because he, like Carolee Carmello, was wonderful in the part. Should they really have been overlooked because their shows weren't the directorial triumphs of the season? These are, afterall, performance accolades - if anything, a performer surrounded by awful direction, writing and music who manages to be brilliant nevertheless is all the more deserving in my eyes. They have to work twice as hard.
I agree with this and with Dale getting the nomination, but by no means was Carolee's nomination justified when there were SOOO many other featured actresses this season that were better. Even Julia Murney in Lennon was better.

Will Chase deserved a nomination but he was put in the wrong show...
I'm still hoping for Drowsy Chaperone and the Sweeney leads. It upsets me that one reporter had Sweeney winning nothing.
I'm just bumping this up because someone started a thread this morning with the same title about the same thing.
Oooooh, I'm peeved about the JLY/Cerveris thing. JLY gets 100% of the prediction? I'm not counting Cerveris out yet...but it does help me prepare for being dissapointed tomorrow night...
