"To love another person is to see the face of God."

“I hesitate to give this line of discussion the validation it so desperately craves by perpetuating it, but the light from logic is getting further and further away with your every successive post.” <<>>

"Will you share your life with me For the next ten lifetimes? For a million summers 'Til the world explodes. 'Til there's no one left Who has ever known us apart!"
i really like "to love another person is to see the face of god" from les miz, also "the rain will wash away what's past... i'll sleep in your embrace at last" from les miz breaks my heart every time. i agree with grommetik about fantasies come true from avenue q (hey i rhymed!); it is very sweet. and your eyes from rent is lovely. "now i'd die for one more day, 'cause there's something i should have told you... when i looked into your eyes, why does distance make us wise? you were the song all along, and before the song dies... i should tell you, i should tell you, i have always loved you. you can see it in my eyes!"
well here are a few of my favorite bway love songs with romantic lyrics
"Say It Somehow" from Piazza definitely "We Kiss in the Shadow"-The King and I "Somewhere"-WSS "The Last Night of the World"-Saigon "I Turned the Corner"-TMM "Without You"-Rent
"No two shows are alike in the making. Each show is a living
piece of your life in a small unreal world with its own character
and integrity; its own new set of memorable experiences and
incredible happenings. You begin to love and adapt to its strangeness.
Dreams harden into substance. Values come into focus. You wish
it would never end. The dream world vanishes like mist before a
rising sun; part of you vanishes with it. And back you land in the
real world with a thud- fogged, uneasy, jittery, difficult to get
along with. There is only one cure. A new show. A new, small
unreal world; new visions, experiences, incredible happenings.
Again you love it, adapt to it, wish it would never end.
But end it does. Another part of you vanishes.
That's show business."-Anonymous
When I heard the first line of Anthony's "Johanna" in Sweeney Todd, I honestly cried. It's so romantic in it's simplicity. I do still get chills from it.
"Alone in our secret, Together we sigh, For one smiling day to be free To kiss in the sunlight And say to the sky: "Behold and believe what you see! Behold how my lover loves me!" -"We Kiss in a Shadow"-The King and I
"To dance in my dreams To shine when I need the sun With you To hold me when dreams are done
And oh.... My dearest love If you will take my love Then all my dreams are truly begun
And time weaves ribbons of memory To sweeten life when youth is through But I would need no memories there If I could share My life with you" -"With You"-Pippin
"Ah, sweet sovereign of my captive heart. I shall not fail thee, for I know... I have dreamed thee too long, Never seen thee or touched thee. But known thee with all of my heart. Half a prayer, half a song, Thou hast always been with me, Though we have been always apart. Dulcinea... Dulcinea I see heaven when I see thee, Dulcinea, And thy name is like a prayer An angel whispers... Dulcinea... Dulcinea!"-"Dulcinea"-Man of La Mancha

"I love you too much to trust something clearer. I know I fell too far, But here you are." from Songs for a New World
and
"Such was my yearning that somehow you'd speak to me, Somehow the walls have all crumbled away. Now I can speak to you. Now I just stare at you. Now I have nothing to say." from Amour
Most of my faves have already been mentioned, but both of those fill my heart with bliss.
"Wilkins, after all these years, are you trying to be funny?"
"My Gentle Young Johnny" from "Tenderloin" (sung by a prostitute desperate to leave her trade)
Oh when will you come for me? When will you take me away? You'll see what I am and you'll know what I've done And yet when you love me, you'll be the first one
If you will be tender Then I shall be shy From lower than low I'll be higher than high My gentle young Johnny, shall we be married today?
The part, sometimes people leave you . . so sad yet so loving.
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."
To Kill A Mockingbird
I also find many of Lorenz Hart's lyrics terribly romantic. One of my favorites, although not one of his best known is "I'll tell the Man in the Street" ("I'll tell the man in the street/ And everyone I meet/ That you and I are sweethearts...").
Alan Jay Lerner was also an incredible romantic, and I adore "Here I'll Stay" ("And the world other's woo/ I will find loving you/ And so here I'll stay...").
"Too many choices tear us apart I don't want to live like that Too many choices tear us apart I don't want to love like that I just want to touch your heart May this confession be the start."
