That should just be Linda's song. Brandi Burkhardt's version just isn't as good (or I'm sure it is if you didn't listen to Linda's!). But really, that was clearly a song to totally show off Linda's voice in everyway. I really hope, regardless, that Camille gets to Broadway, even though I think Brandi will be the title role. Oh well !

I remember hearing Gimme Gimme for the first time played on just a piano and not thinking much of it.
Then I saw the show when it moved to Broadway and with those orchestrations and the way everything flew out to leave her standing dead center on a bare stage... it was unbelievable how powerful it was. Hat's off to the orchestrator on that one.

I can't believe I'm the first one to mention "American Dream" from Miss Saigon. To me this is the quintessential 11:00 number - without it Act 2 would be overwhelmingly depressing. By the time that Cadillac comes floating down the entire feel of the show has changed and the audience is awake and ready for the denoument.

I also have to go for "Once Before I Go" in The Boy From Oz. Which, oddly enough, was a substitute during previews, because "Tenterfield Saddler" wasn't going over with the Broadway audience, though it plays so well in Australia.

Favorites of this nature tend to change quite a bit, but I gotta say my favorite for the past year or so has been the jubilantly raucous music hall showstopper "Not on Your Nellie" from the 1968 flop "Darling of the Day" with Patricia Routledge and company.
