Anybody else think this could be the next tenant at the Cort?
Denzel Washington - Brick
James Earl Jones - Big Daddy
Margo--You are as funny as you are wise!
As for the revival, I welcome it! I can't believe some of the comments that are being made on this thread. It would be silly to see whites playing the leads in August Wilson plays or "A Raisin in the Sun" as they deal directly with issues of race. I don't recall any race issues in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
It would really nice to have someone who can act play Brick and having seen Mos Def on Broadway, he is really not that person.
How about a real stage actor like Jeffrey Wright?
did u not like him in topdog/underdog?
I'll throw Blair Underwood and Michael Ealy out there as ideas for Brick.
"did u not like him in topdog/underdog?"
No, I did not. The fact that he was onstage opposite Jeffrey Wright did not help him either. It just showed the difference in their acting abilities.
actually.... to whoever said it, denzel washington could do a good job in this.... he did a lot of off-broadway before he was big
I said it

He was just on Broadway last year. But I doubt he'd go anywhere near "sexually ambiguous."
It's called acting
You take a chance by doing something against your strength. He would be great. Ruby Dee would be great as Mrs Big Daddy
Denzel seems old to me for this - I like the idea of Blair Underwood.
Another good choice
Jeffrey Wright would be a terrific Brick... but you'll need a few bigger names than his to make it sell out. If you have a "high profile" Maggie and Big Daddy, then Wright is a good idea.
And he would completely tear up in the part.
Denzel? Jeffrey Wright? Won't these distinguished actors be tripping over their long teeth whilst playing Brick?
How about Anthony Mackie?
Ohh I love me some Jeffrey Wright any day of the week. What an inspired choice.
i like the idea of Blair Underwood
Blair has done some good and interesting work in television and film but he has very little stage experience and there is a difference.
i agree i agree...i just think looks wise and acting wise (if he could pull it off) he could be a potentially really good brick.
Jeffrey Wright is 41... and I'm depressed if you think he's tripping over his long teeth.
EDIT: How about Anika Noni Rose as Maggie? She's 34 but doesn't look it. And she's "hot" right now.
...-ish.
Out of the blue
Sidney Poitier as Big Daddy
Sidney is 80!
Big Grandaddy, maybe.
Okay, maybe we shouldn't turn this into the Golden Girls Theatre Presents...
Anika reads way too young.
I know! I was shocked when I found out she was 34.
Girlfriend gets away with it, even on film.

Wasn't the show revived only 3 or 4 years ago?
