VERY interesting about the Sondheim on Sondheim performers.

Very odd that Roundabout asked Cook to be considered featured (I think we all knew they would try to get Williams and Wopat moved).

Featured Actress (Musical) just became one of the most competitive categories of the year.

So can someone post a final list of who is elligible in the four Leading Performer categories? I know there was one floating around before, but can someone update it and post it here?

So, since they specified that Enron's score would be elligible, are we to assume that American Idiot's, Fences' and Red's are not?

Interesting...

Are the Sondheim actors considered likely to win? I wonder if it was a conscious decision to move Cook so she wouldn't be against Lansbury -that would be a crazy race.

Cook IS against Lansbury now. And then throw Katie Finneran into the mix.

I agree w ljay - Featured Actress/Musical becomes THE race to watch.

Hopefully, this strengthens Kate Baldwin's Lead Actess/ Musical chances.

Does this mean AMERICAN IDIOT is eligible for Best Score?

Wouldn't that be consistent with opening night credits?

The producers of AMERICAN IDIOT must not have even petitioned to be eligible for Best Score.

Viola Davis vs. Linda Lavin for Best Actress in a Play is another epic showdown.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Wow, this really shakes things up. I love it. Way to make the Tonys a bit more unpredictable now, particularly the SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM and FENCES rulings certainly make things really interesting. You have Barbara Cook (who was actually a strong contender in the lead category) moved to Featured and Viola Davis being pushed for lead in the role that won Mary Alice a Featured Tony. Sounds like there's gonna be a few interesting races which is rather neat.
Nothing on the AMERICAN IDIOT score?

That decision actually bodes well for Katie Finneran. The two "legends" could very well split the vote, clearing the way for Finneran to win.

This also about guarantees a nomination for Montego Glover.

I think they would announce if it WAS eligible for Best Score, like they did with Enron. It seems it isn't.

Davis moving to leading actress greatly improves Jan Maxwell's chances of finally winning a well-deserved Tony Award.

I still don't think Eddie Redmayne belongs in Featured. Oh well. I understand why they would want him there but it isn't fair to the other actors actually playing featured roles. I would still pick Kunken over Redmayne.

I really hate to say this but Finneran just got a huge break. I still think that Lansbury would win if it were based on actual performance, but now with Cook in there I see many votes being split between them as Tony does love Broadway Legends.

edit- or what Adam said as I was typing.

I agree this is likely to be Jan Maxwell's year especially since Davis is not in featured anymore.

I'm actually happy about the decisions they made, they made this year a lot more interesting!

I thought they announced Enron is eligible for Best Score because it is a play. Do they typically announce when a score is eligible for musicals?

Viola Davis moving to Lead Actress is a mistake if you ask me. Going up against Linda Lavin, Laura Linney, Jan Maxwell, and Valarie Harper is going to be impossible if you ask me. As good as Davis is, her role feels featured compared to those 4 performances. She had the Featured Tony all but wrapped up.
