I could see the movie opening with Dr. Madden in a dark, ominous office staring at Diana's file on his desk. When he finally opens it, the prelude starts to play and then flashback to Gabe coming home late. And then the movie begins... :)
I think it'd work beautifully, if done right. It's all going to come down to their Diana and director. Not sure if Reiner wants to director or just produce...
"I know now that theatre saved my life." - Susan Stroman
I think this would be great with the right cast. The only "problem" I can think of is it'd lack the dynamic set of the musical. It seems like it wouldn't have the same effect without the tiers. Since some of the scenes have multiple places happening at the same time.. But I believe the right director could make it work.
Winslet is definitely not too young. The character is about 38 - Winslet is 36 and has recently played the mother of Evan Rachel Wood in MILDRED PIERCE!
I find this to be a pretty great list of accomplishments. While Rob is a major Hollywood player he has always struck me as someone who took care in his projects rather than just doing something for vanity's sake. I would think N2N would be in good hands with him Rob Reiner as a director

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
No. No no no no no... (sorry, I was channeling a Republican there for a moment)
Really, there are just some shows that should *not* be made into films. COLORED GIRLS was one, and I'd bet that no matter who helms it, N2N will suffer the same fate. The director will want to make it "real" and "natural", and all of the vision and style will go right down the crapper.
No. You want to do a film? Make a movie of the original production. Throw in close ups as much as you like, but preserve it as a stage work and keep that artificiality that is so important to it.

Even if she was, Hollywood makeup does wonders these days!

Please keep Kidman far way from this property. I cant handle her whisper-singing. She does not have the auto-tuned range for this.
I think Madonna could do amazing with this and I know she is interested.
