There are YouTube videos of him at the stage door. That would be enough to convince me that the quality of this interaction is severely lacking.
That's not a slight against Franco. I met him once at a press event, and he was very nice to talk to, but I was at an event where his focus was being there to talk to press. You're going where his focus was doing two shows that day, and now he's just trying to go home.
Similar to the person who started this thread I am due to be in NYC mid-June and I would love to see Lady Day now that it has been extended. The only time I have available is Sunday afternoon. What are the chances of getting Rush tickets for this performance? If the box office opens at midday what time should I arrive to start queuing? It will onyl be myself and my girlfriend looking for tickets.
I did a week day rush and got to the box office at 8am. The people behind me got there about 845. They only had 10 pairs of tickets available, so only the first 5 people got tickets. Not sure about a Sunday rush in June. But I imagine that is AM wins best actress, I would say EARLY.
Go see BOTH. They have two of the finest leads in them (and Lena Hall in Hedwig is pretty darn good if I do say so myself). They're both amazing and will stick with you longer than the experience of waiting with a bunch of autograph hounds to meet James Franco.
No disrespect to Audra or Lady Day, but if you really can only do one or the other, it's gotta be Hedwig -- especially if you love rock. It was the best show I've ever seen (and I've seen my fair share), and it was only the third preview. I can't even imagine how much better it's gotten now that they've officially opened and gotten their routines down. Neil Patrick Harris is absolutely FANTASTIC in it. Not to be missed.
During my whirlwind 8 day NYC trip late June I'm seeing 10 shows plus Billy Joel Concert and since Velocity of Autunm closed early I got a Lady Day ticket and from what you guys have been saying I'm sure glad I did. Also have Of Mice and Men and Hedwig on the schedule!
