With John Lithgow coming back to Broadway this month, I was wondering how he is at the stage door. Has anyone had a great experience with him in the past?
He came out after King Lear and was really great. Glenn Close came out after seeing the show the same night and was pretty nice too, considering she wasn't in the show and was asked to take a lot of pictures.
I attended a theatre event in June and Mr. Lithgow sat a couple seats away from me in the same row with his brother. He was very gracious with everyone who approached him, including me. So I would guess he would probably be similar at the stage door.
Incidentally, Nathan Lane was there as well .... that exchange was a bit .... icy.
I saw him in THE COLUMNIST a few years back at the Friedman (which has always been a great stage door location) and there were only about 7 of us, and he signed everything, took pictures, and talked to us about his career (and how he was in awe of Bob Fosse when filming ALL THAT JAZZ).
He's quite the gentle giant

So glad to hear this... Such a good actor. Seemingly the perfect career - with so much to be happy about... A level of fame and respect from the public and others in business (but not to crazy paparazzi or can't go anywhere levels..). A sought out supporting player for films... Awards galore... And big TV money to make theater anytime he wants possible.
