With the Tony Nominations not including a single nomination for a musical theatre composer in the best score category (for obvious reasons), who are some of your favorite contemporary MT composers? (From the Pasek & Paul generation and beyond).

Yes, sorry, that's my cycle. It's been...rough, and my cyclemates are the people who have given me a reason to continue, both in their support for each other and in their incredible talent. They're all incredible people creating the equal of much of what is/was on Broadway, at least in my opinion, and I just want the world for them. They are my favorite composers working today, even if they don't realize it. (Sorry if this was not the place to drop all of this.)
César Alvarez already has an active and fruitful career, but they haven't garnered as much widespread attention in the theatre community as I think they deserve for their brilliant work.
It's difficult because a lot of younger composers are not consistently putting out new music or getting the chance to have their shows produced. Or they have to work on other projects to support themselves.
Sam Salmond (honestly haven't seen/listened to a ton of his work but "I'm cool" and his Jonathan Larson Grant performance are constantly stuck in my head)
I do pretty confidently believe Shaina Taub will make it as big as a musical theater composer can get. I imagine Devil Wears Prada will help land her some Hollywood projects, and her choice of original theater projects to pursue. I love her voice and style, and am excited for the world to know her work.
